Digital Collage and Canvas

Hi All and Happy Easter if you celebrate this festival. Nice to have you take time to call in-thank you I am feeling a lot better now but staying inside as the wind is very cold.  At Moo Mania and More the theme for this challenge is Egypt Here are an Egyptian couple erecting a new pillar in the lounge-well maybe or maybe not. I have done a mixed project and it is for two challenges.   At More Mixed Media the challenge is Anything Goes with added yellow as an option and at Mixed Media World Anything Goes with watercolour somewhere on the project Not sure if this a canvas, a picture or just a project.  It started out as a water colour painting of a tree as I followed a tutorial online. As it looked nothing like a tree so I turned it into a flower and cut it out to use. The card was torn from an old box and painted white then I added drops of alcohol ink onto the wet paint. Next some embossing using a stencil . This was all stuck onto a background made of torn pieces ...

T Stands for Tasty and Add a Quote at Try it on Tuesday

Hi All and thank you for calling in. At Elizabeth's blog it is time for T Day and the poor love is having some problems with her blog so I am hoping I can add this link.( just visited there and all is sorted by the looks of things-so pleased) We went to Filey and to a cafe where they do a wonderful breakfast and coffee. It is only a small place but has the air of somewhere much larger and fancier. I just love that it has notices that say--- 'We Are Only a Small Cafe so Please Sit Positively.' We tucked ourselves into a corner on a table for two. Happy T Day All It is time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday where we would like you to add a quote to your make this time. So many quotes to choose from that I am sure you will have wonderful ideas. If you haven't and need inspiration, call in at TIOT and see what the rest of the team have made to give you some ideas. All you have to do then is follow our simple rules and have fun. Two weeks to make something and any m...

Tag and canvas

Image
Happy Weekend All from a dark and wet NE UK coast. Thank you for calling in and brightening my day. Go Tag Thursday has Ephemera as the theme for this week. As I am never quite sure what that means from a crafty point of view I went digital and stuck with things I know don't last long. At That's Crafty Challenges this time the theme is Round and Round I made a canvas. The first thing was to spread Aztec Metallics Craft Paint all over the canvas. Using an old plastic shop card you can create wonderful textures using the paints this way. Next I just used odd round things to stamp out circles here and there in the wet paint. When it was almost dry there was a wet part on the left so I sprinkled some matching glitter over it.  The middle I made in Paint Shop Pro and printed it out on photographic paper. It is a fairground big wheel with a globe in the middle and I added the words that seem to fit and they are a from a song that I love from an old film. Finally I added a mix of ro...

Tag and canvas

Image
Hi All and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Always great to have you call in and thank you for being so supportive. It feels more like winter at the moment as it has turned cold and grey now. Even our leaves are turning colour at last so I went to collect a few more yesterday At Go Tag Thursday the theme is Autumn                                       I made a tag with a painted background then scanned of some of the leaves I collected.  Printed it out and collaged that them added a face from a Luna Girls page called Autumn Girls. Then I added die cut leaves The leaf arrangement need to be upside down to scan it I covered mine with various piece of material so they had different backgrounds to use in other projects Frilly and Funkie  have Author Author as the challenge this time I made a canvas with a stenciled background. This was painted and distressed with inks. Then I made a Da Vinci d...

Canvas and Journal page

Image
Hello Everyone who calls in and thank you for your visit. It is still hot and humid here though there are lots of cloud today so maybe it will be better for walking than it has been the last few days.  At Frilly and Funk ie the theme is 'It's a small, small World'. I am not good at this style but I always look at what Pamellia  has made and love to watch her videos to see how she arrives at such amazing projects. I fall at the first fence because scissors don't ruffle the edges of card or paper for me and it all looks so easy. They say practice makes perfect so I need lots of practice This started life as a 4 inches square piece of thick cardboard from an old box. I sort of tried to follow one of the videos and then realised I had hardly any of the things I needed so this is my version. Thank you Pamellia for the inspiration. The photograph is one of my husband's grandmother so I thought his mum might like this canvas. I have been trying for a few weeks now to joi...

Inchie and Canvas

Image
Hi All. Monday again so time for an inchie and time to say thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts. Summer has arrived here and it is over 20 degrees with sun At Twofers this time the theme is 'these are a girls best friend', you have to use a real stamp and ink so it is nice to join in and get inky again. This 'canvas' started life a piece of packaging so not really a canvas at all. I painted it with acrylic paint and then added a picture. The picture background is Distressed Inks sprayed and the stamps are; dress-Kanban cat on chair- Docrafts Pampered Pets   The rose is an unknown stamp sent to me by a friend. I coloured them all with Sharpies, a black pen and a white pen. This week at Every Inchie Monday  the theme is spiral Hope these are spirals?? We did a bit of a kitchen makeover this week and decided the mug tree had to go. I thought it must have another use-------think----- it is now a hanger for all the rolls of tape I can never find in the bottom of the ...

A Fine Romance at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Hi All, thank you for dropping in at Jumbled Crafts and I hope you are all ready for the new challenge at Try it on Tuesday . We have gone all romantic with A Fine Romance as the theme. You can make anything you like so long as it follows the theme and if you need inspiration just pop over to TIOT and see what the rest of the team has made. I made a canvas but it could be used on card I think. I started off with a square and a heart cut from a cardboard box and covered them in metal foil tape. I then ran them through the Cuttlebug with embossing folders, Next came a coat of white acrylic and some texture added with a stencil and Modge Podge. Also a couple of die cuts as well. The colours are Distressed Stains and the beautiful flowers Valerie sent me in my Christmas parcel. I made the little birds in Paint Shop Pro and printed them out on patterned paper. Can't wait to see what everyone makes so it's over to you Love Chrissie xx

New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Hello Everyone and a big thank you for visiting my blog. I am sure some of you are here to see what the new theme is for the challenge at Try it on Tuesday so I won't keep you guessing any longer. It is 'Hot and Wild'. I bet you will have lots of ideas but if you haven't then do pop along to TIOT and see what all the team have made for this challenge. You made need to wear sunglasses. I decided to go down the African route and made this large piece that is now hung on my craft room wall to frighten away unwanted visitors. It all started when I made some paper beads. The African women make them to sell to help feed their families. Lots of tutorials online if you want to make any. I did my own designs. I used an A4 sheet of gloss photo paper and alcohol inks for the hot colours on the background and I added some African tattoo designs. The mask I copied from a picture on geographic page. It is backed with a piece of animal print card that Valerie sent to me and I think i...

Flowery Canvas

Image
Good Day All. Thank you for dropping by. I didn't stay up all night to watch the election results as the first thing they said was an exit poll had predicted what the number of members for each party would be. By 12.30 am I was fed-up of hearing about it and how right it had been so far, so I went to bed. Seems they were right by the looks of what is on television this morning.  At Moo Mania and More the theme this time is Flowers and at Anything but Cute it is Vintage Garden I made this canvas which fits in with both the challenges Firstly I used a stencil and Grunge Paste on the canvas then I used various Rangers Distress crackle paint. It didn't seem to crackle at all but I did like the effect it achieved. I then sprayed it lightly with Cosmic Glitter Mist. I added ribbon or paper flowers that I made and a few cut-outs from a box of oddments that people have sent to me. The centres of the large ribbon flowers are some beautiful buttons that my friend Rose sent to me--thank ...

A Canvas

Image
Hello Everyone and welcome to my little bit of Blogland. Always good to have visitors and thank you for calling in. I didn't go out at all yesterday as the weather was so awful-hope it stays better today- it does look quite nice at the moment. At The Craft Room this time they have two charts to follow. One has Autumn colours and the Other one has Spring Colours. I followed the Autumn colours and made a decorated canvas I started out by sticking lots of rectangles onto the blank canvas then painting them in the red emulsion paint. Next I randomly added Grunge Paste thinned down. When that was dry I coloured it with various Distressed inks that were -part of the colour chart. The flower picture is a scanogram pic of some of our flowers and the leaves and berries are artificial and have been in my bits and bobs box for ages. Thank you to the team at The Craft-Room for choosing my scrapbook page as one of your top three  entries for the last challenge-always an honour. I am linking ...

inchie and canvas

Hello Everyone. Nice to have you drop by Jumbled Crafts--thank you for taking the time to visit.  At Every Inchie Monday this week it is Plum as the theme. I can't imagine what others will come up with for this theme as I could only think of the fruit--can't wait to see what is made for it. I decoupaged the image and the plum name so it added some depth to this inchie. At A Vintage Journey  their theme is Time Flies and your work must have Tim Holtz techniques and products. I used Distressed Inks on a craft sheet with water splashed on for the background. Then I added some Distressed Stain and sprayed here and there with Cosmic Shimmer mist. The middle is a part of something I made a while ago and I am recycling it to add some texture. The flower is made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Die and the clock I have had a while and not sure what make it is. The cogs are TH as well, the bird as I had that sent to me--I think it may be TH . I followed the metal tape technique by Tim to m...

Inchie and canvas

Image
Hello Everyone. Lovely to have you drop in at Jumbled Crafts-thank you for the comments you leave which are always so encouraging. This week the theme for Every Inchie Monday is privacy. Not sure I have really captured privacy with my effort but I guess you are private behind a mask be it real or pretending to be something that you aren't to conceal the real you. A squiggly background with a little mask I made and an obscure head--you need to look carefully to see that :) Now to Country View Challenges where the theme is Word Play and also to Moo Mania and Mor e where this time it is texture. I chose the words first and then wondered how to represent them. I have had the wooden windmill for a while so that was just right for 'turning' as was the wooden screw emblie.  The wooden diamonds have points so they seemed right for the canvas. Windmill, diamonds and screws I bought from Crafty Emblies but not sure what happened to them. I say canvas but it is really corrugated ca...

Try It On Tuesday

Image
A message to everyone whose blog I usually visit and leave comments. Something has gone wrong with my blogger reading list and the lists of lots of other bloggers. I went to the help website and it is a bug that they are trying to fix. Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I will be able to see what you have been doing again. xx Hello Everyone. This is a scheduled post as I am hoping to be well on the way to Keighley when it is posted. We are going by train and hope to be able to have a ride on the steam train to Howarth which runs from Keighley. Hope your week is going well and that you are ready for another challenge at Try it on Tuesday . Wonderful entries for the 'One for the Boys' with so many different ideas and styles to inspire everyone The theme this time is to 'Use a Tag on a project or just make a Tag' so something for everyone to join in. I made a hanging and took the photograph on a bank of wild thyme that grows under our raspberry canes. This was to match th...

Craft-Room and Three Muses

Image
Hi Everyone. A few days since I last posted and I don't know where the time has gone at all. Hope you are having a good week and thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts. This time at the Craft Room Challenge the theme is Roses and Romance-always lovely to join in their challenges with such terrific samples and entries. I made this from a piece of corrugated card from a box and it measure about 12x12 inches. For the background I used a paper napkin that Alison had sent to me with other goodies. I thought it was just right for this challenge. The boy and girl are from Gecko Galz and I cut the little rose posies from a sheet of paper to add here and there where it was a bit bare. The wheel in the middle made of paper with hearts on it and I added the pinched hearts. Then I painted around the edges of the card with acrylic paint and all over the back with the same colour as I am hoping to use it as a journal cover when I find a piece of card the same size to use for the journal ba...

Craft Room and Rhedd's Creative Spirit

Image
Hello Everyone who drops by and thank you for visiting. It is a beautiful sunny day here and we are off for a walk to the seafront and along the beach in a short while. I have combined 2 challenges with this piece  and I did make it with both of them in mind so equal billing for them. At Rhedd's Creative Spirit the theme is to change something as you wish--it will be that most times but there could be a twist sometimes so make sure you look each month. At Craft-Room Challenge the theme is the 20th century. Always great themes to think about there. I bought 4 small canvases and I have used one of them to make this picture. The background and the flowers are made from kitchen roll that I used to mop up Spray Inks when I was making something else. Amazing how many sheets get covered in the ink and they look so pretty. I used the Tattered Flowers Die to make the flowers. The photograph is of my grandma and grandad and my dad and I changed it from sepia to a brighter shade. All dead n...

Tag and canvas

Welcome to Jumbled Crafts and thank you for dropping by. I hope everyone is safe and that the wind and rain haven't caused you any damage where you live. It did keep us awake but we can soon catch-up on that I'm sure. At the moment it is still windy but we do have some sunshine which is lovely. This time at Allsorts Challenge Blog the theme is brown. blue and aqua. I thought I would try a canvas as I bought four in a pack a while ago but haven't used any of them before. First of all I used crayons on the canvas in the required colours. I then added lace and ribbon in the colours as well. The images I cut from a calendar that my daughter gave to me last year. I did recolour bits of the images to fit the challenge theme. Last thing to add was the jewels-the blue ones at the top look more aqua but they are very blue and the bottoms ones are aqua. Next is the Tag Along Challenge for this week where anything goes so lots of scope to join in there. Here is what I made to wish e...

Moos and photographs

Image
Happy weekend everyone. I hope the sun is shining where you are as it is here. It does seem a bit cooler today but that's fine because we are going to a seafood festival down on the harbour. I am not a seafood fan myself but I bet there will be lots of other things going on as well. This time at Moo Mania the theme is beard. I made this page with three of my top guys. Ewan McGreggor, Sting and David Beckham. Not sure they have had beards very often but I think they look terrific with them. The backing paper is some I have had for years made by K and Company and this paper pad is called Life's Journey with some fab paper in it. I sprayed it with home made colours--made from food colouring and then finished off with some gold Cosmic Shimmer Mist. Next came some corrugated card. I swiped an old black ink pad over that to bring out the corrugations. The Moos are mounted onto a piece of card that I painted. The letters are from a couple of sets I have printed out on the computer. O...
