Doodles then and now

Image
Hi All. A bit cooler here today and that is fine by me as I burn so easily when it is sunny even though I cover myself in sun screen. At Altered Book Lover,  Elizabeth has a 2nd on the 2nd post each month and I haven't joined in before so thought it was about time I did. Way back in 2013 I did a doodle and also Vic took a photograph of a foxglove in our garden with a bee on it. You can see the original post here if you like. The post was on June 13th 2013 and a foxglove still grows in the same place. The one this year is taller than I am and we still have a bees nest under the fence complete with bees. foxglove then Taken this morning 2013 doodle Today I was up very early and did a doodle for the circles challenge chosen by Rosie for Art Journal Journey  Not sure my art has improved but my photographing of projects certainly has. today's doodle Hope you have a great day Love Chrissie xx

Folder and Journal page

Hello everyone who calls in and thank you for your visit. We have got a little bit of rain at last and the plants and the grass already look a lot happier. Still very cold though so not quite summer yet. More Mixed Media have anything goes with pink if you like  I bought some folders and hadn't a clue what to do with them, then I did a bit of sorting through things and thought it would be good to save different papers in different folders. I made a cover for the front by painting acrylic and then adding glitter and some gold Aztec metallics that I let drip in all directions. The face was one from a long time ago that I created in PSP and printed out. I added the pink labels as my extra. Had to cut the folder down a bit to fit on the shelf that I have decided will be a good place for all of them. I will enter this at Altered Eclectics as well where anything goes except for cards etc. At Art Journal Journey the theme this time was chosen by Gill and we have to get our thinking cap...

Inchie and journal pages

Happy start of the week everyone who calls in and thank you for your visit. It was great to see I have now reached 150 followers but to have any at all is always a good feeling. I am so lucky to have visitors every time I post something. At Every Inchie Monday this week we have crow as the subject. I should know plenty about those birds as we have loads near to where we live. Now we have starlings nesting under our roof tiles at the front of the house and the back as well. I guess they are trying to hide from the crows, seagulls and magpies that try to steal their eggs. More Mixed Media have Anything Goes with an option to use yellow. Definitely mixed as I designed the black and white background in Paint Shop Pro with some brushes that I had made then I printed it out. I used white pen as a highlighter and some colour with Promarkers. Next I cut out flowers from a seed catologue and also drew flowers here and there to fill in the spaces on the pages. Thanks for the idea of the flower...

Hi All and welcome to a new week at Jumbled Crafts. Always great when you drop in, thank you for your visit. A couple of reminders before I start my challenges post. Tag Tuesday finishes the Birds and Nests challenge tomorrow night so hope you can fit something in today before the next challenge starts early Tuesday morning. Also  Try it on Tuesday has another week for you to join in with the Botanical theme so plenty of time to think of something for that challenge-I hope to see you there. At Every Inchie Monday this week the subject is Parrot. You wouldn't believe the wonderful inchie made by some of the gang. Sewing, beading artwork--amazing. At Art Journal Journey this time the challenge is hosted by Hazel and she has chosen Magical Mystery Tour for the whole of April. I made a Beatles Page. I was in love with John Lennon from the start even though I was married with my first child when the Beatles started to become popular. The quotes of John Lennon words of wisdom depend...

Hello Everyone. Hope it is sunny where you are. We have had a few beautiful sunny days though it is cold with a strong breeze. Thank you for joining my at Jumbled Crafts. I have made a page for the Gecko Galz challenge Fairy Garden as I saw it on Michele's blog. I have never joined in there before though I have some Gecko Galz images I painted the background in acrylics and scanned it then added the bird images from - The fairy is a collage I mixed of images from a long time ago and they were from Outlawbydesign. Art Journal Journal has the theme Out and About chosen by Yvonne for this month's challenge. There have been wonderful entries and Yvonne has come up with so many ideas for her pages I wonder at her imagination and creativity. I am going to finish with a page that is on the same theme as another one I made for this challenge. I painted the background in my journal then added old photographs of me and Vic climbing mountains and reaching the summit. We have reached a...

Hi All from a beautiful sunny day here in the UK. It is frosty as well but nice to see the blue sky and sun for a change. Thank you for your visit today always good to have you call in. At Always Use Rubber this time the theme is Things with Wings I made a journal page with a painted background and  a set of stamps I haven't used for a very long time. It is the Chocolate Baroque set called Punky Romance. The stamps are mostly quite large so this is an A4 page. I am not usually a stamper though I do have lots of stamps and this challenge blog has helped me to revisit stamping. At  Art Journal Journey  this month  Susi  is the host. We are asked to make a collage with no faces, no leaves and no wings. It was nice to use wings again on my first page for today But Susi has made us think and it is always great to do that. Hope you enjoy your weekend Love Chrissie xx

Inchie and Twofers

Hello Everyone and Happy New Week to you all. Always great when you pop in and thank you for your visit. Hope you will join in Alison's Birthday Blog Candy-details here -you can see what is on offer in my side bar. Every Inchie Monday this week has the theme Party-not too much room in an inch for a big party so I just did a blower and a hat. At Twofers this time the theme is Tea, Coffee or Me. You can make anything so long as it has a stamp and ink on it. Well it is a long time since I got very inky so I thought it was about time I did. Inky background-inked images and a Sharpies pen so my hands are well covered now. These are the stamps I used-my daughter gave me the round one so I don't know the make and the alphabet stamps have no name either. The other stamps are Crafty Individuals.  Have a great day everyone Love Chrissie xx

Industrial

Hi All and Happy Weekend to you. Thank you for dropping in and hope you like what you see here today. I am looking forward to watching the rugby matches this weekend and hope that you have something nice planned. At Country View Crafts the theme for March is Industrial I used a mop up page for the background and added grey to make it fit the project. I used aluminium tape stuck on pieces of card and ran them through the Cuttlebug with various folders. They were then stuck together to make a shape. Next some bits and bobs were added and I sprayed the middle' construction' with Silver paint. Last thing was to smudge it with black Distressed ink. This is the quote I added. Thought I would show you a few photographs taken in Sewerby Park a couple of days ago. We had really gone to visit MIL in the Care Home but no one could go in or out as it was closed due to the Norovirus. A bit sad, we decided to keep walking along the cliff top and go to see our favourite trees in Sewerby Park....

Project for a few challenges and an inchie

Hi All and thank you for calling in. I am now feeling almost back to normal and have to go to see the doc today so I am sure I will be declared fit-well I hope I will be as me and antibiotics don't get on well with each other at all. I am finding it difficult to get back into crafting but I expect it will return with a vengeance soon--I hope so. At Art Journal Journey the theme this time was chosen by Hazel and is-'If Music be the Food of Love'. At Moo Mania and More we are asked to use our scraps. and at Country View Crafts you can show them your 'Own backgrounds'. I did make this with all three in mind.  For the background I used 2 Cuttlebug folders and then smeared them with inks. Sorry the colours don't show up too well but it was a very dull yesterday when I took the picture Firstly I distressed the edge of the paper with ink and then delved into my scrap pile and added various punched shapes and cut-out pieces from a magazine. My writing looks shaky o...

New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Hello Everyone and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Thank you for calling in and I am sure you are all waiting for the New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday . The theme this time is to Create a Scene and my team mates have some wonderful ideas so if you need inspiration just  pop along to TIOT then join in with us and your scenes. Yoiu can make anything you like so long as it follows the theme. If you pop back there next week you will see the top five for the Lots of Layers Challenge. I made a page for one of my journals. I started off with an A4 sheet of gloss photo paper and used alcohol inks in blue and green and swirled them about with a piece of kitchen roll to cover the page. Then I added white acrylic here and there for the clouds. The little houses and fences are from Tando and the stamps are from here and there. The ones that I highlighted white pen on are from Joanna Sheen but the others date way back when and have long since lost their identity. Can't wait to see what you make. ...

Hi All from a dark and dismal NE UK coast. It  has been wonderful weather for the last week so maybe it has come to an end now. How lovely that you called in at Jumbled Crafts-thank you. This week I did my 1000th post which would normally have meant blog candy but I see that itsn't as fashionable now as it used to be. I would have found it very difficult to choose one  person to send anything to as I think everyone who pops in and comments deserved my thanks. I have been inspired, encouraged and supported in so many ways so, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you. Now to my make for today which I made for Art Journal Journey where the theme this time is Architecture and for A Vintage Journey where Alison has chosen Journalling with Tim. Her post made me smile and her make made me smile even more so do pop over and see what it is all about. The text I scanned from the book This  page is made with stencils and TH distressed inks and is A4 size. I used Broken China, Aged Mahogany...

Inchie and Journal Page

Hello Everyone. Here I am back again in Blog land after a week away. Sorry I couldn't do much commenting but we had little or no internet connection at my daughter's house and also only had Vic's phone to use when we were in Blackpool. My leg is a lot better and I am still trying to rest it as much as possible. Thank you for visiting Jumbled Crafts and for the lovely comments you leave here. A bit late with my inchie this week. At Every Inchie Monday the theme of the week is Myth Not a clue what this is but it was listed as 'myth' on Google. I added the picture to a white felt inchie and then gave it a red, star jewel. At Art Journal Journey the subject for this month is Through My Window. When winter sets in our large table is always covered in pieces of a jigsaw. We usually go for the ones with 1000 pieces and choose pictures that show places of sunnier climates. Nice to imagine they are the scenes through my window as the pictures build up piece by piece. Vic ta...

Hi All and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Thank you for finding time to pop in and for the wonderful comments and friendship. This is a scheduled post as I will be on a train and on my way to find a new place to live by the time it is published. I am not sure if we will find any internet over the next few days so if I can't comment on your blogs that will be why. Art Journal Journey still have a few days left for the time theme challenge and it has proved a very popular one for sure with wonderful entries of all sorts of styles.  I painted this with acrylics on a piece of card. Most of my craft stuff is in boxes already as we needed the craft space to store stuff so that the rest of the house looks tidy when prospective buyers come for a look round.. At Every Inchie Monday the theme is Pavilion. I must say that we get some very interestiong theme there and I love joining.   I did a cricket pavilion as it made me think of when I was child and we all used to go as a family to watch...

Journal page and Tag

Image
Hi All from a very wet and windy NE UK coast. Wonder when I can say from a very hot and sunny -----? Looks like a h-----k and crafting day for me. Thank you for dropping by and making the day a bit sunnier. Art Journal Journey are getting some wonderful entries for their sea challenge. It is so good to see that everyone has their own style and it comes out in journal pages I think. After saying all that about people doing their own style I have done a page in the style of one of my favourite Yorkshire artists. Her name is Bridget Wilkison and you can find out more about her and see some of her work here . I have visited many of the places where her work is sold but have only ever bought postcards and then I have sent them to other people as we have been on holiday at the time. My page isn't like her work really but it did inspire me. This is my tag for this week at Tag Tuesday where the theme is wild flowers The photographs were all taken in our garden and I collage them to make ...

Journal Pages-painted and digital

Hi All from a very sunny NE UK coast. A very Happy Earth Day to Everyone. Hope the weather is good where you are. Thank you for calling in to see what I have made today. Firstly I will tell you I have made a real mess. I was having another go at the shaving foam technique and got the stuff everywhere. It was fun though. At Art Journal Journey the theme is favourite poem or quote and at Moo Mania and More they have the theme butterflies this time so I will enter this at both challenges. The background for this is alcohol inks on UPO paper. This is the first time I have used this paper and it does have lots of possibilities. The stamps are from Joanna Sheen and Hobby Art and the quote I found on Google My digital piece is for Three Muses where the theme is a book cover I couldn't resist doing a fun one. The background I made from brushes in Paint Shop Pro and a leather effect. The image was from Google. Off now to collect my new, new glasses. I hope I don't lose anything else ...

Spring Journal Page

Image
Hello Everyone and thank you for your visit. I am slowly getting my brain back into crafting mode after not doing any for almost a week. Today we will be out, so no crafting at all and I won't be here at the weekend so I will have to up my game I guess. At Art Journal Journey the theme this month is favourite poem or quote and at Moo Mania and More they have the theme Feelings of Spring. For this page background I used a piece of glass and dabbed on some emulsion paint then sprayed water here and there. Then I press the thick paper onto the glass to make the background. The paper was a nice cream colour so everything matched ok. I loved the 'poem' that I found online and the pansies were cut from a plant catalogue. Vic gets loads of them through the post and I usually keep them as the pictures are so beautiful.

Hi All. Hope the sun is shining where you are as it is for us. My daughter will be arriving shortly from Cumbria and I am hoping she doesn't bring any of the Lake District rain with her. I may not be doing much commenting this weekend as she does like to take us out and about. Thank you for calling in to see what I have made. At Art Journal Journey  the theme for April is a favourite quote or poem. Happy Page I stenciled the paper with a music stencil then I added some emulsion paint with a bit of sponge so it didn't cover the stenciled background. Next I found the free to use silhouette dancers and printed those onto my page. I already had this quote printed out in my stash so I cut it out and stuck it on the page. The hearts are for the love in the quote and I added Yeah 3 times cause I think it is a happy sound YEAH ;0) Have a great weekend everyone Love Chrissie xx

Favourite Poem Journal Page

Image
Hi All from a dark and wet UK Coast. We are still decorating-well one of us is and the other is making drinks and snacks and finding time to craft and compute :) At Art Journal Journey  the theme for April is 'Favourite poems or quotes' so lots to think about with that theme. I just did my blog feed and saw that I have chosen the same poem as dear  Valerie  posted this morning. Amazing that out of so many poems we have chosen the same one. I did this yesterday before I saw hers. This is my version of John Donne's wonderful                  Elegy IX: The Autumnal This and, one other of John Donne's poems helped me through a very shaky time in my life.  I chose Vanessa Redgrave-old and young and one of our own photographs as a background for the subject of the poem The 'decorator' says we need more paint so I had better get organised and hope that B&Q are open today  Thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts Love...

They who have wings at Try It on Tuesday

Image
Hello Everyone and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Thank you for your visit and I hope what you find here will inspire you to join in the challenge. If you would like inspiration you can go here to see what the rest of team have made and their wonderful and varied ideas. Try it on Tuesday's new theme is 'They who have Wings' and I just kept it simple and chose a bird even though you can invent lots of things with wings I'm sure. I made a journal page. Firstly I painted the thick paper with white acrylic then dropped a few colours of alcohol ink here and there until it covered the white. When it was dry I drew flower and leaf shapes around the ink splodges to make the background. The dove shape is a template I have had for a long time and you can cut on the dotted line to make the wing stand up for cards etc. The 'keep calm and create peace' is from a book of Keep Calm quotes that I bought to use for projects. I drew the peace branch and leaves and tied the keep calm...

Hi All from a dull and wet NE UK coast. Already over 250 wonderful pieces of artwork are on show if you go here  you can see them as a collection. A digital page again today from me with a  background painted in Paint Shop Pro and other pictures I have had in folders for a long time. I think the bird one is Gecko Galz Another digital offering for Collage Obsession  where they have Bunnies as the theme for this week. Did I hear a big 'Ahh'. The images were found on Google and everything else I created in Paint Shop Pro Have a lovely weekend and don't forget the clocks got forward in the UK so the weather will be sunny and bright for six months--well I can dream.
