Happy Earth Day and Happy Bearth Day

Image
Hello Everyone and thank you for your visit. Earth Day flag Thanks to Elizabeth I know that today is Earth Day and also her 'Bearthday' as well Tea cosy made from old wool Elizabeth has been doing recycling projects all this month so I hope you will pop to see what she has been doing. I recycle all the time in my crafting and also in my other life as well because it is what I was taught to do when I was growing up just after the war. Even if you had money there wasn't much to buy. My grandmother made wedding dresses for the family from old parachute material and nothing was ever wasted at all by her or by most people. I decided to do a biggish project for my Earth Day recycle. We had a pile of clothes to throw away as they weren't even fit for the charity shop, they had paint on them and various holes here and there. I was going to cut them up for rags then had another idea. A few weeks ago Yvonne went to Beamish and I recalled when we went there, the little cottages ...

Digital Collage and Canvas

Image
Hi All and Happy Easter if you celebrate this festival. Nice to have you take time to call in-thank you I am feeling a lot better now but staying inside as the wind is very cold.  At Moo Mania and More the theme for this challenge is Egypt Here are an Egyptian couple erecting a new pillar in the lounge-well maybe or maybe not. I have done a mixed project and it is for two challenges.   At More Mixed Media the challenge is Anything Goes with added yellow as an option and at Mixed Media World Anything Goes with watercolour somewhere on the project Not sure if this a canvas, a picture or just a project.  It started out as a water colour painting of a tree as I followed a tutorial online. As it looked nothing like a tree so I turned it into a flower and cut it out to use. The card was torn from an old box and painted white then I added drops of alcohol ink onto the wet paint. Next some embossing using a stencil . This was all stuck onto a background made of torn pieces ...

Earth Day Project for Elizabeth

Image
Hi All and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Thank you for calling in and a special welcome to anyone arriving from Elizabeth's blog. I was very happy to be asked by her to make a recycled project for her Earth Day celebration posts. Earth Day  is on April 22nd and she calls it Bearth Day as it is also her birthday. I do love to make things from 'rubbish' and find it difficult to throw things away though I know I will never have time to make all the wonders I see when I think what I could make with them. Here is my project for Earth Day It started life as an empty coffee tin and a piece of left over wallpaper border The tin was covered with the paper and the bit at the top turned over and stuck down inside the tin I put crushed paper in the bottom half of the tin then filled it will pot pourri and rosemary from the garden. To cover the top I made a simple flower from some very old tissue paper my daughter was throwing away. Lost of tutorials for these flowers online just type in...

Time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday  where you are always pleased if you join us with your makes all you have to do is follow the theme and our few simple rules. Why not pop along and see what the team have made and look at the rules while you are there. Our whole team choose the top five from each challenge and if you are one of them you may be asked to be a guest designer for a future challenge. The theme this time is Botanical so think flowers, trees, leaves etc. Here is my project and it was lovely to make it as it has lots of things that I have kept for ages. They are from things that people sent to me or made for me. You may well see something from you if you look at the pictures ...

Tag, Basket and reminders

Image
Hello Everyone. Hope you enjoy the weekend and thank you for calling in along the way. Rugby watching on television for me this weekend so I have colouring books at the ready while I watch. Two reminders before I start with my projects. Still time to join us at  Try it on Tuesday with our Time for Tea theme. You can make anything you like so long it follows the theme even do artwork on a tea bag as one of my team mates did so beautifully. Next reminder is to join us at Tag Tuesday for the Hats and Headgear theme chosen by Michele and she has arranged for a prize by lunagirl. You still have well over a week to join in our challenge At Altered Eclectics all you have to do is alter something to join in. Mine is a very simple alteration today. A little basket for an 80 year old male friend who loves these biscuit treats It started life as a small plastic box with grapes in it I covered it in several sheets of tissue paper. Cut out the shape of the bottom in card and covered that to ...

Tag Tuesday, Inchie and Messy Make

Image
Hello Everyone and thank you for calling in today. Happy T Day if you arrived here from Elizabeth's blog. I hope you will join with us at some of the following challenges At Tag Tuesday it is our second challenge with the new format and we are so pleased that the first challenge went so well with old and new friends joining in. Valerie has chosen the theme for this challenge and it is Spring Flowers. Such a lovely theme and I can't wait to see what everyone makes. I found a lovely bunch of Spring Flowers that had been in a folder since 2010. The background is made digitally with the same flowers and I printed that out as paper to cover the tag.  The flowers were printed out three times and I cut around   some of the larger flowers. This was all decoupaged, though it doesn't show up on the photograph as well as it might. At Every Inchie Monday the animal for this week is Horse Better than most of my animal drawings I thought We are half way through the Let's Get Messy...

Altered box and journal page

Image
Hello Everyone and Happy Weekend. Nice to have you call in at Jumbled Crafts and thank you for your visit. No rugby this weekend so I guess it will walking and some crafting for me. At Altered Eclectics it is their first challenge of the year and you have until February 25th to join in with anything altered. I used one of the many boxes I save to alter and most of them have been there a very long time waiting their turn I made this 'hold lots of things' box, It started out as a very large Corn flake box and I cut it down to the height of a toilet roll middle. The rest of the  cardboard box has made lots of large tag shapes which will be very useful. The outside of the box was covered with thick patterned card and it folded over part of the inside as well. Then I add a trim to the top edge to make it stronger. Side View The inside was fitted out with toilet roll middle and lots of small boxes so there were places to  put things in tidily and I can now find them easily Art Journ...

Let's get Messy and T stands for Tuesday

Image
Hello Everyone who drops in and thank you for your visit. We have a new challenge starting today at Try it on Tuesday   and the theme is Let's Get Messy. Lots of ideas from the wonderful team so do go and have  a look at what they made and visit their blogs and leave a comment if you have time. I made a notepad holder and it looks innocent enough now it is finished but what a mess I made along the way. I am sure some of you will have had some of these coasters through the post if you are in the UK. The Red Cross send them through the post to ask you to send a donation. It seems like my neighbours know me well and give me theirs to use for crafting. First of all I covered them in metal tape them embossed them with Tim Holtz folders. Next comes the messy part as I dripped alcohol ink all over the place and just let it spread around. As you can see I put too much on and it spread to the mop up sheet as well--more of that next Tuesday. They were then mounted on  coloure...

New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Welcome to Jumbled Crafts and thank you for calling in. I am sure some of you will be here to see what the latest challenge is at Try it on Tuesday . Always exciting every two weeks when we start a new challenge. Lots of inspiration by the team as well if you visit TIOT.  The theme this time is Hearts and Flowers. I made something to give to Vic on Valentine's Day Inside it will have real seed packets when I find out which ones he would like this year. We always get lots of seed catalogues in the post and he orders lots of seeds from them so I will pay for them this time. Good old Amazon envelope with the sides cut off to make a folder shape Covered with some of the beautiful papers from this book my daughter gave to me when she gave up paper crafting. That's about it really except for using a couple of envelopes to make pockets and some pictures of seed packets. Have fun with the challenge Love Chrissie xx

New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Hello Everyone. Thank you to all of you who visit and make it a happy and special place for me. Time for our second Challenge this year at Try it on Tuesday  and the theme this  time is Anything but Square. Lots of inspiration from the wonderful team if you go to TIOT to have a look. Check our rules as well while you are there and then you could be one of our TOP 5 chosen by the team. If you are chosen you could be invited as a guest designer for a future challenge. That is how I got onto the team and I am so happy and proud to be a part of it. I made hat pincushions which are definitely not square. You can find instructions on how to make one here  and mine are based on that tutorial with my own twists as always. For the small one I used the lid from a can of spray paint and the top from a tin of coffee. The larger one was the bottom half of a big yoghurt pot, that I strengthen with card, and a piece of strong card for the bottom. The material is all the bits left over ...

Hand Made at Try it on Tuesday

Image
Hi All and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Always great that you cal;l in and thank you for your visit. Today is the start of another challenge at Try it on Tuesday  and we are looking forward to seeing what you will make for it. The theme is Hand Made by You so no bought embellishments just your own ideas. There are some wonderful makes by the rest of the team if you need inspiration and while you are visiting the TIOT blog please have a look at the Rules and Guidelines so that you can follow them and be sure to be in the vote for our top 5. This is my make. A used tin covered in bits of material with flowers made very simply with the Suffolk Puff technique and the leaves folded ribbon  I painted the tin inside and out as the material was quite thin and the writing on the tim would have shown through without the paint underneath  Measure around the tin and cut strips of material to fit around it. I wanted the height to be enough to fit in a bottle of wine so I made the stri...
