Moo Mania

Image
Hello Everyone. Beautiful day again here 'sunny and warm'. No rain forecast for days here but the plants continue to thrive. The nights are a bit cooler so I think they are living on the condensation--how clever is that? At Moo Mania the challenge this time is in a row. I found this piece of gold card-well I found several pieces of the same gold card but haven't a clue where I got them from. If you sent them to me--thank you. I first splodged the card with different colours of Distressed stain but all that did was separate into little droplets so not much effect really. Then I made my Moos using the Distressed stains  and stamped some small images in a row before adding gold Glimmer mist and a Promarker Edge to each. The bling was already in a row so I added that as well. This is my tag for Tag Tuesday t his week where the theme is the Swinging 60s I did everything I could think of from the 60s and even a bit of psychedelic drawing on the left hand side. The camper van is a

Out of a Hat Challenge 75

Image
Hello Everyone--hope your week has gone well. Here we are with another challenge at Out of a Hat Creations. The theme this time is 'A Pennant of Bunting.' I'm sure that conjures up lots of ideas and here is what I made. The bag after Chrissie treatment Bag when I rescued it at the car boot sale. I really bought it for the handles as it was only 50p. It is lovely linen and lined so I decided it was too nice to take apart. I cut out 12 triangles and made those into bunting by sewing them to some ribbon and adding sequins. Then I made some flowers just by gathering two sizes of circles and scrunching them up. A button to finish off the centres and that's it done. It now holds a lot of sewing threads that are only suitable for hand tacking etcs they break if I use them on the machine. It will save me getting them mixed up with the good stuff. Hope you visit Sam ,   Janet and Sandra to see what they have made for this challenge. I am entering this at Altered Eclectics -be

One Flower Wednesday

Image
Good morning Everyone. It's another beautiful morning here and we are off to the old town for a walk. It is always good to go there and like being transported to another era. It did have cobble streets until recently but they have covered the cobbles now with some modern stuff so spoiled it all a bit. I expect it was some EEC rule that said it was dangerous. I forgot to post my flower yesterday at Journey of a Quilter. Not sure why but it doesn't show up on my blog roll-must sort that out. I am so enjoying making all the flowers for my quilt and seeing all the colour that can be created when they are joined together. A wonderful pastime. Thank you to the members of the blog who made me very welcome Have a wonderful day Love Chrissie xx

Use your Stuff and Fun with ATCs

Image
Hello Everyone from a very sunny and warm NE UK coast. I am keeping out of the sun today as I think I over did a bit yesterday. Nice to be in the cool of the craftroom. At Use your Stuff this week they have a recipe Ingredients: 1. add texture - embossing, heat embossing, molding paste 2. use paint or mist - splatters are acceptable 3. add a quote or a saying- famous or not I made this hanging with two pieces of square card at angles to each other and used inks, staines and water to make a nice effect. Then I stamped the Kanban man and woman on the hanging and also onto paper to use as a mask. Next I stamped various other things here and there. I added the little flowers at the top by using part of a brass stencil and Grunge paste then I painted those with some acrylic paint to add even more texture. There is some Gold Glitter Mist on the edges as well. Just the quote to go then the recipe is fulfilled and it can all go into the oven to be baked. Forgot to mention that I made a hole a

Inchie and Fairy Projects

Image
Hello Everyone who pops in today Looks like it might be a nice day for Bank Holiday Monday so I expect our little seaside town will be packed full of people enjoying themselves. Today is Every Inchie Monday day and the theme this week is SONG. I chose the song Lady in Red by Chris de Burgh. I printed out the inchie then decoupaged the lady to give it more depth. At Anything but a Card it is Fantasy and Fairies and I did enter an ATC already but thought I would make something else as well. This was because I found a brass stencil with a fairy--it had fallen down the back of my work bench a long time ago and had never been used.. Not sure what make it is as I expect I threw the packing away. This is the stencil if you know who made it can you let me know please I used a piece of paper for the backing from A Bumper Book of papers I bought a long time ago and the letters I have had a while as well. I used acrylic paint splodged onto plastic for the background then Paper Artsy Grunge Past

Is it really Saturday ?

Image
Hello Everyone. Yesterday I really thought it was Saturday when I did my post and I was pleased when Sam made a comment to say that it wasn't--thanks Sam. All the days seem like Saturday to me and I enjoy every day with so many fun things to do. Hope you all enjoy your day today and thanks for popping in. This time at the Craft Room Challenge they have the theme something new-this can be a technique you have never tried or something that you haven't used yet in your stash. I made this ATC. The background is my new venture as I used the bubble technique. It is so much fun to do and no two backgrounds will ever be the same. This is what was left of the background and the piece of paper that I used to print the image onto. Not sure that was a good idea really but it did give texture. The fairy image is one I drew digitally with pixels in Paint Shop Pro many years ago. Feel free to save it and use it if you like. I would also like to add this to Anything but a Card  where the them

Ahhhh and Craft Barn Alpha Page

Happy Friday Everyone! Nice weather here so far today but the forecast says it is all about to change so we will be off for a nice walk along the seafront and the cliffs to make the most of the good weather. I thought you might like to share some pics that Vic took yesterday. We have had a very large hedgehog eating the slugs and bugs in our veg bit of the garden for ages and noticed that she hadn't been around for a few of weeks. Now we know why! She has moved to next door where the garden is kept wild and lots of little creatures live there. Our Hedgehog must have thought it was a suitable place to have some babies and she has had three. Our neighbour, Roger, called us out yesterday to see them on his lawn so here they are. Two seem to stick together the other one stays on it's own. No sign of mum though so I am hoping she is ok. They are quite small and may be be about three weeks old we think. Now for my O page for the Craft Barn Alpha page challenge . I chose the word Orri

Challenge 74 Out of a Hat

Image
Hello to Friends and Followers and a warm welcome to Jumbled Crafts . I hope your week has gone well and that you have fitted in lots of crafting Over at Out of a Hat  we have the theme Stencils and/or Masks so please join in if you have time. I decided to make my own stencil and use it as the front of a book I have been meaning to make for a long time. Covered an A4 book with strong card and some paper I have had for a while. All you will need I made my own stencil by using a piece of plastic and a die cut shape-the die is by Joy and called Floral Flourishes. Make sure that the piece of plastic is big enough to leave a space around the shape. Cut out the shape and then use as a stencil--then you can turn the plastic over and use your brayer to make the shape again with the excess ink on the plastic. Just use an ink pad and the cut-out shape then turn the shape over and bray to leave the shape again. You also have the coloured shape to use on a card or other crafty work-all from one ho

Patchwork Quilt

Image
Good Morning All. Hope you will have a good day what ever you have planned. Here is my new obsession. For years my daughter has been making wonderful patchwork quilts by hand and by machine and all I have done is design and cut out the cardboard shapes so she could sew them into patterns for the quilts. Recently I started looking at some of the flowers on a challenge at Journey of a Quilter  and I thought I would like to have a go at a quilt made with the flower patterns. Like everything else I do I got completely carried away and have been sewing flowers every time I sit down to watch television or listen to the radio. This is my entry for this weeks One Flower Wednesday -you will notice that our conservatory carpet is full of bits of cotton:) Here are two of the bigger pieces with 7 flowers in each and some of the blue material I showed you here  though it looks a lot paler colour on that post. It is really the dark navy All made by hand with the cardboard hexagons cut out by Vic. I

Inchie and Twinchies

Image
Up with the larks this morning and all ready to go for the train to York where I will be spending the day with my daughter and son-in-law who are celebrating her birthday with a visit to the wonderful historic town. The weather forecast is terrific and we have lots planned for the day so I bet I will be worn out when I get back home. This week at Every Inchie Monday it is pocket watch time-no pun intended :) Simple painted background and little jeans pocket with a watch in it. These are my inchies so far--think I might make a frame for them when they are finished and have then as a picture. Now for more Twinchies. I did say I would make some more for Artful Times so here they are I decided to get out my acrylic paints and just see where they led me. I love the texture that can be built up with this medium. Not sure what kind of flowers I created though the bottom ones look sort of like delphiniums. Just realised that the theme at Twinchies Challenge  is still florals for the whole mon

Die Cut ATC

Image
Hello Everyone.  What a beautiful day it is here with a bright blue sky and no clouds so far. Everything looks lovely and fresh after the rain yesterday as well. At Fun with ATCs they want us to use Die Cuts this time. Here is the one I have made using the smallest gear in the Tim Holtz set--Gadget Gears I did a background with sprays and a green alcohol ink. Let it dry then used the gear die cut to stamp over in black to leave the image on the ATC. A bit of gentle embossing randomly on the edges and then I added the die cut that I had used as a stencil. The quote is just part of a quote which is really   'Like a ten gear bicyle, most of us have gears that we never use.' Have a great day all Love Chrissie x

A Twinchie

Image
Second post for me today. It started to rain and turned even colder so we came back quite soon from town. The Seafood thing was just an exhibition and was interesting but not what we had expected,. We did have Fish and Chips though so that was seafood :) At Show us your Twinchies the theme at the moment is Holidays/ Destinations This is the one I made as it was the best holiday for us almost 24 years ago as we got married while we were in Jamaica. It was all like a dream world with the smell of coconut in the air and the beautiful flowers and music everywhere. Not sure I would want to go back just in case it wasn't as magic as I thought it was at the time. The background is part of a picture from a travel brochure and the couple are me and Vic getting married which I decoupaged onto the Twinchie and I did that with the word Jamaica as well. I'll entry this at Artful Times as well cause they want Twinchies this time--I will make some more for there as well. Hope your day has be

Moos and photographs

Image
Happy weekend everyone. I hope the sun is shining where you are as it is here. It does seem a bit cooler today but that's fine because we are going to a seafood festival down on the harbour. I am not a seafood fan myself but I bet there will be lots of other things going on as well. This time at Moo Mania the theme is beard. I made this page with three of my top guys. Ewan McGreggor, Sting and David Beckham. Not sure they have had beards very often but I think they look terrific with them. The backing paper is some I have had for years made by K and Company and this paper pad is called Life's Journey with some fab paper in it. I sprayed it with home made colours--made from food colouring and then finished off with some gold Cosmic Shimmer Mist. Next came some corrugated card. I swiped an old black ink pad over that to bring out the corrugations. The Moos are mounted onto a piece of card that I painted. The letters are from a couple of sets I have printed out on the computer. O

Create a Scene

Image
Hello to everyone who visits Jumbled Crafts today-always good to have you pop in. This time at Try it on Tuesday   you are invited to Create a Scene which sounded like something nice to try. There are wonderful samples by the design team and also some stunning entries as well. I made this small canvas and as the words say it is a Garden--well a Japanese Garden but I couldn't find the word for that. I made the background using shaving foam and Adirondack Alcohol Inks. The colours I used are Eggplant and Lettuce. I then distressed around the edges with Tim Holtz  Broken China Ink then I was ready to stamp the scene. First I stamped the lady and masked her so that I could stamps the trees and plants around her. All of the stamps are from a Hobby Art set.  The images are coloured with felt tips as they were the only ones that seemed to work on the shaving foam background.  It smells really nice :) Have a great day Love Chrissie x

Out of a Hat Challenge 73

Image
Good Morning All. At last we have some real rain and the garden looks very happy. We have already had a bumper crop of courgettes and runner beans and there seems to be lots more to come. We are growing something we have never grown before--spaghetti squashes and they look the size of pumpkins. Lots of those so I need to look for a recipe for those--anyone any ideas? Another week has flown by and it is time for a new challenge at Out of a Hat Creations.  Anyone is welcome to join in with us there and you can make anything at all that fits in with the theme.  The theme for this week is Summer Days so lots of ideas for this one. I haven't done any crocheting for a long time and don't have much idea how to do it really which means just making things up as I go along and without a pattern-too difficult to understand. This is a small sunhat so I guess it will have to be called a decoration. It is made from bits and bobs of wool as I have a bag full so plenty of choice.  Sam, Janet

Journal Page and Tag

Image
Lovely weather here again today and I hope it is nice where you are as well. At Art Journal Journey this time the theme is Squares. I am fairly new to doing the journal pages but I thought it would be nice to try to combine my love of digital art with other mediums so this is another page I have made for the squares theme. I have only just got back into digital art using Paint Shop Pro and designed the background by painting and adding effects and fancy brushes. The black and white image is one I made but the one on the left I have had for a while so I made it into a brush. Not sure anyone who doesn't do digital art will have a clue what I am talking about-sorry. The edges and corners I stamped. Tag Tuesday this week have the theme Complementary Colours. I haven't a clue what the colour wheel means and I just like to do my own thing where colours are concerned :) . I painted onto some plastic and pressed my tag onto the paint to created the background and did the same things w

Gray(grey) Inchie

Image
Happy Monday to Everyone who drops in today and a very happy day to you if it isn't Monday when you pop into Jumbled Crafts. Weather still lovely here though a bit of rain would be very nice as it keeps passing us by and the garden is looking a bit tired at the moment. At  Every Inchie Monday the theme this week is Gray--or as I spell it Grey. I went for the Little Grey Dress which is, supposedly, taken over from the little black dress since Pippa Middleton wears it on special nights out. Not sure I would want to wear grey but I have never tried it apart from a very smart business type suit way back when. I just found a picture of the dress and decoupaged it onto the inchie.  Have great day all Love Chrissie x

Material with a history

Image
Hello Everybody. I do hope you are having a good day today. It is quite a bit cooler here and we had a walk into town and I bought this piece of material from a charity shop. The colour is quite a lot richer than it looks on the photograph and it has a lovely grained feel to the cotton When I opened it up there was another label attached to it as well as the charity shop label. The material must have been in an end of roll sale 40 years ago when someone bought it and never used it. The label is attached to the material with a very neat little metal piece and fine string.  Here is the new label attached with a plastic tag and brash and bold. At £2 I couldn't resist buying it and have a used lined up for it but it will be months before I can show you what I have in mind. Nice to have you pop by Love Chrissie x

Out of a Hat Challenge 72

Image
Hello to everyone who drops by Jumbled Crafts today. I hope you enjoy what you find here and will say hello if you have time. This time at Out of a Hat  the theme is Things beginning with B. Well I indulged my passion for beach huts and made this one from a bird house that I bought for £1 at our local store in town-it isn't a Poundland store but everything they sell is £1. original bird box. First thing to do was removed the perch and then it was painted red and left to dry. To make the stripes I used sticky tape. The door is made from card and coloured to match.- and the ring was on a wind chime from the Life Boat shop. I know the fencing looks a bit O.T.T but I have had these die cuts for ages as I got them in a swap. The decoration on the roof edge I made with some fancy scissors. Now for the difficult bit--the STEPS! I found them a nightmare to make the ones in the picture were about my sixth attempt. How difficult can it be to stick together four small pieces of card at the

Craft Room Challenge and a few photos from yesterday

Image
Hi All. A beautiful day here again and I have done lots of washing and it all dry and ready to iron if anyone fancies popping round to do it--I will provide coffee and biscuits. :) At Craft Room Challenge this time it is Bingo and there are some wonderful lines to choose from. I chose Lace-Brown-Pearls or Gems I made this pillow gift box. The little owl is a Walter and Winnie digi stamps. The frame and I made in Paint Shop Pro then decoupaged parts of that a few times to add depth to the images. The swirls are a JOY die. and the lace and pearls were from my bits and bobs box. I really had fun making this. Thought you might like to see a few pics from our walk yesterday. We always seem to find nice places that are peaceful and we are the only ones around. I walked along the sea edge while Vic walked along the edge of the cliffs to look for fossils. Heading for the end of the beach Me from a long way off Interesting pieces in the sea-Vic said he thought they were pill boxes from the war
