Going Wild on an Inchie

Image
Start of a new week and a new challenge for me as I am downsizing my craft stash dramatically due to our ideas to alter our house layout. All quite a scary prospect and lots of work but, hopefully, worth it in the end. One of the Challenges that don't need a lot of space to make are inchies and I am loving making the 52 weeks collection at Every Inchie Monday This week the buzz word is WILD. I have chosen the Wild West. In days gone back-way back when I used to go to the cinema often there always seemed to be a western showing somewhere. Usually the baddies were the Indians and the Goodies the cowboys and we cheered or booed depending who was on screen. Not sure that sort of stereotyping is encouraged these days but it was fun at the time. Nice to have you drop by Love Chrissie x

Addicted to Stamps and More

Image
Hi All ! Welcome to my newest follow which makes the number 99 which is amazing-thank you all of you. Today it is very hot and  so my brain is not working too well. This week at Addicted to stamps and more there is a photo inspiration challenge I thought it looked quite easy but then I started to work with a piece of shiny black card and it was nightmare. It showed every finger mark. I managed to disguise the marks with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and covering with a black ink pad. The flowers and leaves are die cuts and the stems some green card in strips. The Greeting is another peel-off-one more from the pile of many. Hope you are having a good day and enjoy your weekend Love Chrissie x

Out of a Hat -Challenge 70

Image
A warm welcome all to Jumbled Crafts. Hope your day is going well and you have had a great week Time for another challenge at Out of a Hat  where the The Hatters would like to see Patch Work Patterns. It doesn't have to be anything sewn but I really needed to make this. It is a needle cushion and why I needed it is a story many of you won't believe. I always seemed to be losing needles--I would open a packet and in no time at all they had all gone. I looked carefully for each one as I was afraid they may cause a nasty accident they had dropped on a  chair or even on the floor. I decided I had a nasty, needle fairy who just took them whilst I wasn't looking. Then one day I saw just the eye of a needle sinking into a nice plump pin cushion. That's when I wondered how many more had gone the same way. I took the pin cushion apart and found many, many needles inside the stuffing. I know you will be saying ''why doesn't she use a needle case?' I know I should

Alpha Page and Christmas Gift Bag

Image
Hello Everyone-hope you are having a great day. It is still hot here today though it is thick cloud and dull looking. We are still reeling from our brush with Royalty yesterday and were pleased to see that Prince Charles and the Duchess still had the same clothes on when they went to see the new baby as they had when we saw them yesterday. Prince Charles's buttonhole was a simple cornflower So what have I been doing since then ? This is my page page for the Alpha Challenge at the Craft Barn  where the letter this time is T and there are no twists I used paints for most of the background then distressed in on bubble wrap. I chose the word Tattoo as I just love Tattoo designs and the skill that goes into most of them. The picture on the left is one on a girl's middle back. I haven't any Tattoos but I am sure I would have had at least one if they had been the fashion when I was younger. I would have chosen something like the little owl I stamped and  would have  had it placed

Royal Day

Image
We decided to go to the harbour this morning and thought we may catch a glimpse of Prince Charles. It was amazing how many people turned out to greet him at the harbour and we got quite close to him and enjoyed seeing all the things that had been prepared for him to see on the harbour which is usually used as a car park and full of cars. No water in the harbour unfortunately as it does look a lot better when the tide is in. While Charles was at the harbour Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall was just along from the harbour at our beautiful Spa building.. When Charles was out of our view we decided we would walk home and the route we take goes by the Spa. As we were walking that way there was suddenly a lot of action and Camilla came out of the side door of the Spa where a small crowd were waiting for Prince Charles to come along along and join her later. She must have got fed-up of waiting for him and decided she would go to meet him so off she trotted at speed along the see front-well tha

Masking and Tag

Image
Good morning All. Here I am bleary eyed as we have had awful storms during the night and it was very humid as well as noisy. It is still rumbling in the background and today Prince Charles and Camilla are visiting Bridlington. They are even going to a local fish and chip shop for lunch. I think they would be better staying at home and going to see their new grandson--I know I would be doing that. Thank goodness I am not royalty and I can just do my own thing Right down to business-- At Artful Times this time the theme is masking. Not something I do very often and now I know why lol. I found it very difficult and I think it was mostly because I chose the wrong main stamp and it took me ages just to cut out the shape to mask it. Not sure this will ever be used for anything other than a test. All the stamps are from Joanna Sheen-the main one is Hellebore. and the other in the background are from the Back to Nature set. I did the stamping and masking then coloured in with Promarkers. Then

By the Sea

Image
Two posts for me today and a lot of messy crafting--half has gone in the bin which doesn't happen too often thank goodness. The theme this time at Moo Mania is  By the Sea and as I live by the sea I have used one of my photos from where I live as a background. I printed that onto some card that looks like canavas. Made a Moo with a beach hut image that I found online and made into four beach huts and coloured them- then stuck that onto the photograph--a very small postcard. Hope your day is going well Love Chrissie x

Fantasy and Musical

Image
Another Monday has arrived already and it doesn't seem two minutes since last Monday. I hope everyone had a nice weekend--I watched a lot of golf and really enjoyed it. Also kept listening to the cricket as well which wasn't as exciting unfortunately. Better Luck in the next test to my Australian  friends. This week the theme at Every Inchie Monday is Fantasy-I always think of dragons when I think of Fantasy so this is what I made. It is part of a stamp by Abracadabra The second challenge in this post is for Musically Challenge  for the challenges there you watch a video and anything that inspire you to make something crafty is right for the challenge. I loved the video this time as it is Steampunky even though the group is from the 80s and the song is great. You are also allowed to do digital art creations so that is what I have done.  The 'creation is 8x8 inches and I have printed it on Canvas card. It took me ages to create in Paint Shop Pro but I have always loved usin

Set of Three ATCs

Image
Hello All who drop by today. Sorry to say summer has gone for us and it is back to 15 degrees -feels like 13 degrees. Wonder why they put the' feels like' on the forecast-it doesn't make me feel any better about it at all. Never mind still lots of great ideas for craft room makes and also the golf final from 11am today. Life's Great! At Fun with ATCS this time you have to make a set of three I made a background piece of card with my homemade faux 'gelli' plate. Added some die cut flowers using the smallest of Tim Tattered flower dies and then I cut out the ladies which from a card someone sent to me a long time ago. I don't very often make ATCS but I enjoyed making this set Have a great day everyone and thanks for calling in Love Chrissie x

Clean and Simple

Image
Happy Saturday All. It is cooler here today so we are off for a longer walk than the last few days when it has been too hot to go far. At Addicted to Stamps and More  it is CAS week and as I needed an anniversary card I made it in this style. Always great inspiration from the team there so even if you haven't tried this style before you will be guided by them I have had this aperture card for a while so added some nice yellow, texture paper to fill the circle and stamped straight onto it. The bottom of the card I added texture with a Cuttlebug folder. Not sure where the digi stamp came from but it was free and I have used it often. I coloured it to match with Promarkers. Added a bit of an edge with Promarkers to the circle and wish I hadn't really--too late now :( Hope your day goes well Love Chrissie x

Home is where the Heart Is

Image
Happy Friday All. Hope you have a wonderful day.  Looks like it is going to be another hot day today so I am going to set the fan on a high setting and get my feet up to watch the golf on television all day. I sometimes wish I wasn't such a big sports fan as I do spend a lot of hours watching different events. I did used to play a lot of sport but old age took over so I do the next best thing I guess.:) I can do a bit of crafting at the same time though. At Try it on Tuesday the theme this week is 'Home is Where the Heart is'. I made this hanging. First of all I found the word Home online and made a larger version to to print onto card. Then I cut it out and stuck it onto another piece of card. Good old distressed inks were used to cover it all and spritzed with water to add effect. I used a die for the hearts and stuck those on and a few jewels. All that remained to do was as the peel-off gold edging, the raffia to hang it up and the flowers. Thought I had better add my

Out of a Hat-Challenge 69

A warm welcome to everyone who pops into Jumbled Crafts and hope your day is going well. This week at Out of a Hat  the theme is 'You Hold the Key'--so that could be lots of things with lots of meanings for you to think about. I took it literally and made this This is what I made as I love to make 'garden art'. this is a close up of the flowers. If you get bored with photographs then turn away right now as there are few coming next. this is how the key holder started out-with an old hook from the car boot sale and an empty milk container. The keys were from Poundland and are quite large and heavy. I started off by giving the hanger a metal look but most of it got covered up anyway I used the TH Tattered flower dies and some other shapes for leaves and cut them out from the plastic  milk container pieces. Then I coloured them with acrylic paint and Promarkers and finished them off with several coats of varnish so that they are weatherproof. I ironed the shapes as some of

Art Journal Journey

Image
Hi Friends and Followers every where and welcome to my blog on this very hot day in NE UK. I have just walked along the beach by the sea edge and it is still hot there so I am pleased to be back home in the shade of my craftroom-any excuse to do some crafting :) I have tried all sorts of crafting but I have never made an art journal. Susi invited me to join in at Art Journal Journey  so I looked to see what I had to use as a journal and I found a watercolour paper pad that I bought over 20 years ago by mistake as I used to use Gouache for my paintings and it didn't like that sort of paper. The subject this time is Architecture so this is my very first page of my first Art Journal thanks to Susi and a little encouragement from Valerie as well. I painted the background with various colours of H20 paints then drew the Japanese building in black pen and coloured it with felt tips. I have various Japanese type stamps so used a few of those to surround my drawing. Next I found this great

Friendship and Steampunk

Image
Monday is here again and that means Every Inchie Monday has a new challenge-well hopefully it has as I am scheduling this post The subject this time is 'friendship' and I have made 2 inchies. one from 1948 and the other from 2005 The one of the left was taken when me and my best friend were 6 years old and had been chosen to dance for a May day celebration--we look less than happy. The second one is us in 2005 still friends even though I live well North and she lives well South . We meet somewhere for a few days and pretend we are schoolgirls once again. This was on a trip to Nottingham where we had an amazing time exploring so many things in the City. We had on the 'hats' as we were going down under the city to explore the caves. It is an amazing trip with lots of history so if you are ever in Nottingham be sure to go there--and to the lace museum--and the law courts---and the church---- and the wonderful park with a museum--and so much more. The next challenge is at

The House of Bears

Image
Hello to everyone who drops by Jumbled Crafts-hope your day is going well I love the Jane Austen quotes challenges at The House of Bears  and this is my take on one from this month's list Not a pretty page-sorry bears. I did the background with distressed inks and a blob of something that just appeared from nowhere--honest. The images were all ones I found on the net. Love Chrissie x

Addicted to Stamps and More

Isn't this sunny weather wonderful? We went for an early walk along the seafront and into town and it was already hot by 9 a.m. I'm pleased to be inside with the fan on but I so love to look at the sunshine. This week at ATSAM it is a colour chart for the challenge and here is what I made from the three beautiful colours. Wonderful samples front the great team there with lots of inspiration. I made quite a simple card with chalk stripes and paper ribbon I made for the edge. The little owl was from a set that was free inside a craft magazine ages ago--the mag is called Simply Cards and Papercraft Thanks for popping in today and thank you to all who leave comments as well. Love Chrissie x

Out of a Hat Challenge 68

Image
Welcome Friends and Followers and lovely to have you pop by today. It is the busiest day on my blog as I am sure many people like to know what we are doing at The Hatters each week. We have the theme 'Let it Rain' which is quite apt as it is St Swithin's Day in the UK on the 15th and that involves rain. At first I just made a canvas then I thought it would look nice as a picture so I painted an old wooden frame in a rainy day grey colour. The little girl image is one of  Melissa Diaz digi images. I did win quite a few of them a while ago but the link where I got them doesn't work any more so maybe she doesn't do the images now. I used various other stamps. The large butterflies on the right are Chocolate Baroque the dandelion heads and leaves are Joanna Sheen and the bee is Cart Us. Hope you will pop and see what  Sandra,   Janet  and  Valerie   have made and also join in with your own take on the theme if you have time. I would also like to the link this to Artfu

Moo Mania and Craft-room challenges

Image
Hello Everyone I hope your day is going well. I am posting 2 challenge entries in this post The first one is for Moo Mania  where the theme this time is Landscape. I made a little card with parts of some of my own photographs from when we used to live in the Lake District in Cumbria. The sunsets and sunrises there are wonderful and often we would get up really early to climb in the mountains to see the sun rise and then some nights we would climb later to see it set--we even went on a midnight hike once which was quite scary even with the full moon. I will send the little card to my daughter and son-in-law as they still live there and we are going to visit them later in the year. Plenty of time to enter this challenge at the Craft Room  as it was only posted yesterday. The theme is Vintage Stamping and you must use a rubber stamp and no cuties. I used one of my favourite stamps from Crafty Individuals and a black, white and red theme as it seems to fit the times. The background is a pl

Craft Barn Alpha Challenge

Image
Summer has definitely arrived for us and it wall to sun and blue sky today-hope it is sunny where you are. At The Craft Barn this time the letter is Y but with a bit of a twist as you also have to use yellow. I chose the plant Yucca for my word. It always amazes me that they seem to grow here in the North of England these days as about 50 years ago the only place we used to see them was Devon and Cornwall when we went on holiday. They always looked so 'posh'-well they still do to me. I hadn't realised that the root has all sorts of healing uses so I added the link to the page so I won't forget. Nice to have you drop by-thank you Love Chrissie x
