Journal Pages,Tag and Cats

Happy Weekend Everyone and thank you for joining me at Jumbled Crafts.

At Art Journal Journey this month Susi is the host. We are asked to make a collage with no faces, no leaves and no wings.

I have 2 pages today one painted and collaged and the other digital artwork

I used mostly alcohol ink for this background then cut out the pictures from a magazine. I have had the quote emblie for years and thought it fitted in with the page

The digital piece is a similar design with a background made with alcohol inks and I scratched on the pattern. This was then photographed to use digitally for future projects.

At A Vintage Journey the November theme is Cracking Up so they want to see crackle.

I am not good at crackle so I bought the large Tim Holtz 'cracks and specks' stamp and I can crackle along when I like, I stamped the crackles then embossed them and Distressed the whole page with  'vintage photo' Distressed Ink.

I used a photograph of my Grandfather and Grandmother that we think may have been taken on their wedding day but no one was ever sure as they wouldn't say. You can see that they weren't good at keeping photographs as it is in an awful condition with crackles of its own.

I thought you might like to see what Willow and Oscar are up to now

Linda and I knitted animal PJ cases for the Cat Protection to sell at their Chritsmas sale. There were lots of different kinds but Willow and Oscar claimed two for themselves.

Enjoy your day

Love Chrissie xx

  1. Thanks for making those wonderful journal pages for AJJ, just gorgeous. The tag is fantastic, as are those pyjama cases, the cats look like they love them, too. Hugs, Valerie

  2. The two journal pages look fabulous, love the bright design and its good to store a photo of the base to use another time. I always store mine.
Loved your tag with the wedding photo and those crackles look super.
Willow and Oscar look very comfortable with their PJ cases. I think folk will be lining up to buy these beauties.

  3. LOVE your bright and cheery post Chrissie, your cat loves to snuggle up to soft toys like my big labrador doggie does. Our little baby is just the cutest and the cuddles were precious....we hope to go back in April when she is Baptized....xxx

  4. Both backgrounds are great, very striking and of course it's a good idea to keep them in digital form for later (note to self make sure you do that in future). I do love the crackled tag, Vintage is one of my favourite genre. Just a thought here but if your grand parents were coy about this it's likely there was something going on... Long after the death of mine, we found out that they weren't married before the birth of their first child, which of course, at the time, was frowned upon...

  5. You have been really busy. I like the first AJJ entry and the background, but the second AJJ piece really made me smile. Seems technology changes faster than we ever imagined. Of course, I love the sentiment, too.

Your tag is lovely, and I confess, I'm glad to read I'm not the only one who has trouble with crackles. I've tried all kinds of products from the expensive to the ultra cheap, and get similar results with all.

You can tell people who buy these lovely cat pillows that they are definitely cat approved. Another way you show how talented you are!

  6. Willow and Oscar look sooo happy. What a great knitting project! Loving your tag art and your collage too. I don't know if we re any better labeling our old photos either, but its tough it know he stories you want to know sometime. I think you did them right with your tag, and I admit, I'm terrible at crackle too. Happy weekend-enjoy-Hugs-Erika

  8. Gosh -your pages are excellent Chrissie - I love the first one and the second one makes me smile! Thank you for those super pages linked up to the current thweme! You make me happy!
This tag is so charming, great to have a crackle stamp -I own one as well , but never used it yet - I think that there are not many good products out to crackle that are as good as with white glue is to crackle,at least my results with white glue were always better than any expensive product turned out.
The kitties look so happy with their gorgeous PJ cases! I bet they will be a big hit at the cat protection x-mas sale!
    Happy Sunday

  9. What fabulous pieces Chrissie, you know that I always love your digital pieces, and your painted collage is wonderful too. I think I have about 4 crackle stamps, I just really like them lol. Your cat pictures made me smile, I thought the bottom one was wearing a bow tie when I first saw it :-) Have a great weekend. Sue x

  17. I so enjoyed this post! Fabulous pages exploding with life and colour, and Willow and Oscar enjoying their kidnapped PJ cases put a big smile on my face (I should like to be a cat next time around, I think). Your crackled tag is absolutely charming - love the embossed stamping to give extra crackled texture, and how wonderful that photo is, creases and cracks and all. Delightful! Thanks for joining us on A Vintage Journey.
