Journal Page and Tag

Hi All. Hope your week is going well and thank you for your visit today. I seem to have been busy this week with hardly any time to craft at all.

At Art Journal Journey the talented Valerie is the host for the wonderful Indian Summer/ Golden October/ Autumn theme. Our leaves are only just starting to turn but I can't resist collecting a few to stick onto pages for the theme

This page has lots of Autumn colour, gold spray and glitter but even my light box didn't show it as it looks in real life

Go Tag Thursday starts a new challenge today with the theme of Vintage Men.

I used a photograph of my grandfather that was taken about 1915 when he was a young man. I can always remember him dressed like this as he was the lead violinist in a theatre orchestra in a big City. He looked after me during the day when I was little and I used to watch him practice on the violin and the piano. They had a grand piano and could sit under it and feel the floor move when he pressed the pedals. The black bow is to represent the one he wore if there was a matinee and the watch chain also reminds me of him as well.

Off now for a cup of tea and cake. Enjoy your day

Love Chrissie xx

  11. Lovely warm and glittery autumnal page Chrissie - what a nice array of leaves you have collected.

Your second piece using that wonderful photo of your grandfather and sharing your special memories is really lovely. What an interesting life he must have, do you know if there are any recordings of the orchestra?

Have a lovely weekend...... Gill xx

    1. Unfortunately not Gill. It was well before the time when everything appeared on a recording and if there were any of the performance they didn't include the orchestra pit at all even though without them the people on the stage wouldn't have performed so well at all. I did get a free ticket every week and went to see lots of things. When I got married I moved away from where he and my grandmother lived but I always enjoyed the sing songs around the piano when we went to visit.

      Love Chrissie xx

  13. Beautiful shine on your first card! I love the leaves and the background texture.
A great picture of your grandfather too, it's nice you had those moments with him too as in those days men didn't like to look after small children!

    1. He was only one left to look after me as my dad and uncles were still in the forces for year and my aunts, my mum, and my grandmother all had important jobs. It was a time when most of the men were something to do with the war and the women took over their roles. Fortunately that meant I was an only child for quite a few years and, I am told, I was very well behaved.:)

  18. I can no longer tell which of your art is real and which is digi because they are both so good xx

  19. I can well imagine the real life shimmer on your wonderfully sparkly leaves, and your grandfather makes a great nostalgic presence in your vintage masculine make. I love that you've included an actual watch chain, and your memories of sitting under the piano reminded me of this DH Lawrence poem (only the first couple of verses - he gets a bit over the top at the end, for my money!)... Do you know it?

    1. Hi Alison

I have never come across that poem before and didn't think there would be a poem about sitting under a piano. It is a strange experience both in sight and sound--even in smell as well though you would have to try it to know what I mean lol
