Journal Page and Inchie

Hello all who call in at Jumbled Crafts and thank you for your visit.

I was so excited when I saw the new theme at Art Journal Journey for this month. It is called Inspired by Masters so you do something in the style of who ever you want. Already lots of entries and I am sure this will be their best challenge yet.

I have so many ideas I don't know where to start but I thought I would start with David Hockney as he lives just a few minutes away from us--well he does when he is in England. 


His paintings often reflect our area with his favourites being the Wolds road and the sea front.

Strange that I chose to do this style of his in 'Paints' as he is now into digi work on his I pad and also has lots of cameras fixed to his Range Rover and does huge paintings joined together digitally. We were lucky enough to see the 'Big Trees' in all it's glory and it was special.


Here it is in my new journal which is paint splattered already.


Just a mention of Salts Mill in Saltaire where many of David Hockney works used to be on show. Not sure if they still are but Saltaire is a great place to visit for lots of other reasons as well--I'll keep you in suspense.


At Every Inchie Monday the theme is Violet.

I did a violet coloured background for my violet flower.

    A wonderful inchie, great colours, and LOVE your Hockney inspired work. I met him a few times in my youth at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, and his work is always special.     That is a beautiful journal page. I have never heard of David Hockney, but did some research after reading your post. And needless to say, a very pretty inchie.

    Interesting to read about David Hockney. I've never seen his work before and I like your interpretation. That Inchie is really lovely too.

    very nice violet violet - so pretty -- your art journal is off to a great start. I like copying too - I think it teaches you a lot and, of course, was a traditional tool in art instruction in days gone by

    Love the painting! So very cool that you got the inspiration living so close! The inchie is great as well, had to take a 2nd look, did not notice that the background was also violet!

Hi All. Thank you for visiting today and I hope you like what you see here. A fine bright day but colder today so I may fit in a walk later though I had some curtains to make before I do anything else. At Tag Tuesday this week the theme is Diva. I don't always remember to show my tags for there as you need to be a member and and do your own posts on Tag Tuesday's blog. I chose Elizabeth Taylor as my Diva she was so beautiful in films but definitely a Diva in her private life. Art Journal Journey are still drawing me in with the artists inspired theme so here is yet another page for the challenge there.  This was inspired by Damien Hirst though years ago I didn't feel inspired by his work at all when I saw some of it for real at the Liverpool Tate Gallery.
