Artful Times First Challenge

Image
SATURDAY, 31 MARCH 2012 Artful Times First Challenge It was lovely to see that Neet, Sam and Von had opened a new challenge blog  Artful Times  and also a coincidence as another 4 more of us from JFF also had the same idea and opened a challenge blog Out of a Hat Creations  both within a week of each other and none of us knowing the others were doing it lol. I am sure there is plenty of room for both blogs and that people who enjoyed JFF will enjoy them both. Here is my entry for the  Artful Times Challenge  for this fortnight which is 'A Tag of your choice' I added 2 pieces of mirror card to show one meaning of the word reflections and you can see the reflections in those on the photograph. I also stamped the owl images onto acetate so I could reverse one when I added them to the tag-a reflection of each other. Now the other meaning of reflections--me looking back at all the great things I have learnt from all entries that have been posted by you girls over the last year. I ho

Out of a Hat Challenge 2 Entry

Image
This week at Out of a Hat we have the challenge to do something with a box. I save allsorts of boxes and particularly the many tablet boxes that I get from the pharmacy The white one is the one I chose to change First thing was to take it apart-then I used cream emulsion paint all over it and a few drops of raisin coloured alcohol ink worked into the emulsion while it was still wet. Next spashed it all with water and dabbed dry with kitchen paper. All read to make into a box again now. Added a bit of ribbon attached to a brad at one end and stuck that end to the inside of the box. Cut off the other end and made an open topped box to fit inside Here it is finished box and a little bag of Thortons Chocolates just fit nicely inside making it already to give to someone as a little gift.

Favourite Colour and bling with sparkle

Image
Seems a while since I entered any blog challenges with being away and having a dreadful cold when I cam back. Two in one here as Digital Tuesday has favourite colour and Craft Room Challenge has Bling and Sparkle/Glitter. I thought those went together well so made a card. The digital image is from Doodle Pantry. The Bling is a wine glass charm.

Challenge One at Out of a Hat

Image
This is a truly new adventure-just started yesterday and we will learn as we go along. The first challenge here is anything to do with a hat/hats I made a top hat from a toilet roll middle and sprayed it with gold paint then just added things as I went along. The flowers are handmade and the swirls are die cuts.

Think Spring and Water Colour

Image
I have combined 2 challenges with the one at Digital Tuesday being 'Think Spring' I thought the tulips would be nice for that and then at Try it on Tuesday the challenge was Water Colour Painting. The sponsors at Try in on Tuesday this week are One Stop Craft Crafts  with lots of goodies to buy there. I decided that water colours aren't really my thing after digging out a set I have had for years and trying to paint this lovely FSS free digital image . I have used it to make a cover for a notebook. Maybe I should start practicing more with this medium as the colours are really lovely just my painting that isn't :(

Shabby Vintage

Nice to be back crafting after 2 weeks looking after my daughter. Always great to see what is in store for us on the Craft Room Challenges. I seemed to use all sorts on this to get the effect I wanted. Edge punches, peel offs, a doilly, ink and stamps of course and a lovely image I got from a site that has free vintage stuff.

Colour, embossing and Spring Theme

Always lovely challenges at The Shabby Tea Room  and beautiful colours to choose from on the pictures. These are some flowers I saw in a tutorial on U-Tube and I wanted to have a go. The wooden leaves I embossed and the yellow flowers are stamped and embossed.

Mother's Day Card

Image
I have made this for my MIL and think it fits in with 2 challenges. One Stop Craft Challenge is Mother's Day Cards to include ribbons. I made my flowers and leaves from ribbons, and at The Crafty Pad  the challenge is Mum's the word. Just getting back into the swing of things after being away looking after my daughter for almost 2 weeks.

Card Kit Project

Image
My daughter had offered to do something for the local Guides and decided on the idea of making some cards and then making up kits of everything needed to make the cards so the guides could make cards to take home. Before she could get going with the project she had an operation on her arm and I went up to Cumbria to look after her. Her craft room is like a shop with so much to chose from both for card making and, her passion now, patchwork. Most afternoons she was in bed asleep after taking strong painkillers so I decided I would do the project for her. The cards are in her style and each card has the same number of elements and everything is cut to size for the guides 'card kits'. They have their own scissors and glue which is good lol. I hope the guides enjoy their session of card making. It kept me quiet for many hours making the kits
