Twofers and Ajj

Hello Everyone. Lovely to have you visit Jumbled Crafts and always great to have you here. We have had lots of rain during the night but now it is bright and sunny and just right for a walk along the seafront.

At Twofers this time the theme is to make the the sentiment the main feature. You need to use a real inked stamp somewhere on your projects for the challenges there. This will be their last challenge for a while as they haven't had the response to the challenge that they would like. Time for a rethink they thought and they will be back I'm sure. Good Luck girls and hurry back.

I made this canvas. The stamp is from a Holly Art rubber stamp set. The papers I have had in a drawer for years

Art Journal Journey still have Nature's Wonders until the end of the month so  still join time to join in with your journal page.

This is a photo I took of my daughter's cat Willow asleep, which is something he does for most of the day except for when he is eating.

Sleep has always been  one of Nature's Wonders and these days there is a lot of research about the why and wherefores and no one seems to have the answer as to why we sleep. Me having a rant next so miss it out if you are busy :)

I went for my yearly check-up at the docs last week and they have added this question to a long list--How long do you sleep each night? Well I vary from not at all to about 6 hours on a good night. Apparently this isn't enough--I asked why? The nurse said studies had shown we need 8 hours. I asked what studies, where and why?--as you would. No reply just a sharp jab in my arm to extract an armful of blood. I rarely visit the doctor. I am nearly 75, I walk miles each day and I am very happy so why do I need to sleep away a third of the hours of my life?

Down from my soap box and wishing you all a happy day

Love Chrissie xx

  1. Lovely journal page and canvas. Sleep really is a wonder, especially when you can't sleep, I know that! If you are happy as you are and with how much you sleep, that's fine. I would like o sleep more, but would miss all of those sunrises! Hugs, Valerie

  2. Sleep oh the delights of being a cat and sleeping on a washing line. Studies have shown that it varies from person to person the late great Mrs T used to run the country on a lot less than 8 hours a night!

Twofers I love your entry this time that sentiment is a motto to live by. We will be back I'm making a few appearance changes and a break will give us a chance to refresh our own mojo. Be back in October. XOXO

  3. Wonderful work Chrissie. I don't know why they think everyone should sleep for 8 hours, I go to bed in the early hours of the morning, am straight of to sleep solidly for 6 hours and feel a lot better than when I use to go to bed early to try and sleep for 8 hours or more.

  5. I think we need some recharge/sleep, but I think the problem with doctors is that they all expect us to need the same things when we are all different. We aren't machines after all. So I'd keep doing what you're doing. Wht good is it to lay in bed and just toss and turn. Hugs-Erika

  6. Fabulous pieces Chrissie and I love the sleep idea on your AJJ art.
Not so long ago they were discussing sleep one morning but saying 8 hours was too much and not good - so who do you believe when things are constantly changing and being questioned?
I think listening to your own body usually tells you what you need.
I'm an awful sleeper - last night (ok it was hot because of the weather) was tossing and turning and a bit of sleep - so about 2pm I put the tv on and watched some craft programmes taped during the day :) then of course I fall asleep.
Have a lovely day ( and good night!).. Gill xx

  7. A wonderful canvas and a beutiful digital page for AJJ dear Chrissie! Thanks a lot! ♥
Oh yes SLEEP is such an important thing - I am always happy if my sleep is long and fine - hate if I can not sleep.
Since I avoid caffeine - it is so so so much better with my sleep - I am so happy about that fact!

  8. Beautiful canvas and sweet kittie photo who looks a lot like my big fur boy. I am someone who needs 8 to 8 1/2 hours of sleep a night or I can function well. I didn't sleep enough while I was working and felt tired all the time. Sleep is good for us, but I agree that we are not all the same and you are lucky you don't need as much of it ! Good for you at 74 ! Take care xxx

  9. Well, you know I like to see the words at the heart of things, and I love the aged tapestry look of the framing panels. The sleeping cat is so soothing to look at, and a bit of Shakespeare too - guaranteed to make me happy... as does sleeping. I've been through periods of insomnia (years' worth existing on only a couple of hours a night) and managed okay. At the moment I'm a gratefully good sleeper - but I don't see why we can't all be individual in our sleep needs!

  11. Lovely canvas Chrissie! And good on you to stand your ground, you are so much better placed to know how much sleep YOU need. Not everyone is the same and we don't need the same amount at different ages either!

  12. I love the journal page Chrissie, cats and dogs, have sleeping off to a fine art. They always seem to know how to relax. As for our sleeping, I cannot remember when I last slept for 8 hours. Last night the rain was so heavy on the caravan roof, we were awake for hours and yet today we seemed to have no ill effects.
Its s beautiful canvas as well with the super quote.

  14. That was a fantastic canvas. It looked like it was well planned in advance because all the pieces fit so well together. I loved it, but since you must stamp that might be a reason I've never heard of their challenge blog before.

Your daughter's cat and my two have the same habits. Eat, poop, sleep, repeat! Love the dream state, though.

I've also been told I don't get enough sleep. Some days I sleep for six hours, some days three. I've never needed much sleep, but of course, all my friends blame it on the fact I drink coffee 24/7. When I sleep, I'm dead to the world. So, I agree that what feels right is the exact amount of sleep you need. Now if you are snoozing while reading this, you are either not getting enough sleep, or I'm totally boring you!

  16. A beautiful piece, full of peace and rest. Sleep as much as you need, not what others say...your body knows best what it needs!

  17. Beautiful creations Chrissie, love your kitty cat. I find the older I get, the less sleep I need, and the lighter I sleep, when I am sleeping. If I live too long, I might be awake full time! tee hee. hugs :)

  18. Your card is lovely and your digital collage with Willow is beautiful Chrissie.
Sleep certainly IS a wonder and cats seem to be very good at it ;-)
I think each person knows best what is working for them.
Quality of sleep is as important as the amount I believe and that varies for each of us.
Your walks by the seaside sound so healthy and lovely.
Happy beginning of the weekend to you oxo

  19. I just read your comment on pesto. I should have mentioned that the recipe said you could replace the pine nuts with walnuts, if that helps. I understand pine nuts are relatively hard to find.

  20. Hi Chrissie, love the card and it is a lovely sentiment. A great journal page and I think sleep depends on what the body needs, not what the Drs tell us. The main thing is to be fit and healthy and happy and I think you 'fit' into that category.
    Have a great weekend.

  21. I LOVE your card, such rich colours with a beautiful verse.

Fabulous journal page. The cat is so comfortable and great colours to use with it.

Wish I could last on 6 hours, but agree with everything you say about sleep LOL.

  26. Beautiful canvas with a great saying. Your digital collage is great. I think what the nurse said is nonsense and I do believe there was recent research to refute the '8 hours' myth.

  27. I love both of your pieces Chrissie, the quote is wonderful, and anything with cats is perfect by me. I have no problem at all getting to sleep, I just can't stay asleep. I wake up and go back, wake up and go back... Whatever, there's nothing you can do about it is there. Congratulations on your healthy lifestyle, I think being happy is the key to everything, so have a very happy weekend xx

  28. Lovely canvas and I love your art journal page, Willow is such a peaceful sleeping beauty! Sleep is a wonder and I think your body knows how much sleep you need and it varies from person to person, so aslong as you are getting what's right for you that's fine :-). Sounds like you have a great lifestyle, it makes me happy to walk for miles too! Happy weekend! J :-)

  29. First of all your canvas and journal page are both fabulous! As for sleep - I think it is whatever suits you best - I tend to sleep for longer at the caravan (unless it's raining!) but generally it' s between 6 - 8 hours certainly never longer and of course there's often a couple of get ups in the night for the loo!!! I hardly ever doze off - sometimes on M-Way journeys for about 3 minutes! If I am wide awake I get up - I just can't lay in bed!! Hugs, Chrisx
