Journal Page and digital art project
Hello Again from Jumbled Crafts and thank you for your visit which is always appreciated.
Another page from me for Art Journal Journey where I am hosting the Winter Wonderland theme for this month. I hope you will join in and also that you click on this button to see all the wonderful entries in one place thanks to Valerie.
Today I have done a digital page with a textured background and skating silhouettes I found on Google. The snowflakes and text on the background are Paint Shop Pro brushes that I made. The quote I found on Google.
Dear June at Denzinaworld has a new list of cheeky challenges and the first theme is poverty.
June added a picture you can use for your project and I used it as my background. The girl at top left was called Eliza Armstrong and her parents sold her for £5 which would be £527 in today's money. The girls were bought for a life of prostitution and their lives were very short. Have we moved on? Maybe not as some girls are now imported and promised good lives but still have the same horrors to face as in Victorian times.

Both pieces are great Chrissie, and the second one gives us lots to ponder - I don't think we have improved much since then! So many people are still bought and sold and mistreated.Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey again, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYour AJJ entry is incredible. I should sit down and learn my PhotoShop program, but I seem to be too busy with other endeavors. I really, really like this and the quote is just as true as it is funny.
ReplyDeleteThe second entry saddened me. In fact, I'm mortified when I read the statistics on girls sold through human trafficking in the US. The last statistic I read mentioned over 300,000 US girls alone who were sold into slavery and prostitution. And that's just US girls who were born here and sold here to people who live here. I often wonder what is happening to our society, but it appears it was just as prevalent in Victorian times, too. Thanks for bringing this subject to our attention!
We have moved on a little but other drastic life dramas have take it's place sadly....Wonderful project Chrissie and colour combination is lovely.xcxc {aNNie}

Two wonderful pages and so different in styles. Love the silhouette skaters. I've just used Junes image as well, this was a very powerful theme and I think you have captured it on this page.

ReplyDeleteThe poverty piece is really moving - such poignant images which really give you pause for thought - especially when you remember that such things are not as safely tucked in to the history books as we would like.
