Left overs and Painting
Hi All. Hope the weather is fine where you are. We have high winds and even higher gusts which seem to find things to rattle around that have kept me awake for half the night. A good day to craft I think. Thank you for visiting Jumbled Crafts and for leaving comments to make my day.
At Our Creative Corner the theme this time is Christmas Leftovers.
My daughter couldn't believe that I was collecting all the cracker bits and saving them in a bag after Christmas Dinner. She is a crafter but always uses things bought online or at a craft shop so making anything from these bits of card wasn't on her list at all even though I said I would share them.
I made this card using some of the glitter card and have made several more toppers as well to use on cards or other projects. Cut the shapes with dies and my Cuttlebug.
Now to another painting for Art Journal Journey where the theme is Inspired by the Masters
James Ensor (1860–1949) was a major figure in the Belgian avant-garde of the late nineteenth century and an important precursor to the development of Expressionism in the early twentieth.
I do like his background and flowers and painted those myself in acrylics, but the faces and skeletons on a lot of his paintings were difficult to recreate so I printed some out and stuck them onto my painting. I must read more into why he did such weird faces. Was it for fun or an inner conflict I wonder? Artist are fascinating people!
Have a wonderful day and stay safe

Wow Chrissie!! I am absolutely loving that you used crackers as your Christmas Leftovers!! That glitter paper is gorgeous and you really put it to good use! I love the gold and red together and your flowers are so dimensional, wow!! My hubby used to give me funny looks too, but now he wouldn't dare throw anything away before asking me if I would like to keep it! HAHA!!

Ha ha ha! Me too! We scrappers can basically use anything, can't we? I don't mind picking things off the street if I think
ReplyDeletethey may come in handy ;-) You are so clever Chrissie, fantastic work with the glossy papers! And let me tell you a little secret, I much rather look at your painting than at the original, you have made a very vibrant flowery version, love it! Hugs, Ira xox

ReplyDeleteChrissie, I MUST echo Lys...Your valentine card is BRILLIANT!! I love what you did with all of those scraps = one highly creative woman!! My mom always saved bits of scraps from here and there and she could always find uses for them. I'm learning that now. Nice to have the die cuts - they make card making more versatile.
ReplyDeleteYour painting reproduction is wonderful, though I have never really had a taste for those particular 'masters', I love the bright colors you used.
Blessings for more creative ideas!

Does anyone have a suggestion how I can get my icon to come up next to my comment. Ever since blogspot installed the "I'm not a robot" aspect of the commenting on their blogs, my icon won't show...instead it's the arrow thingy...
ReplyDeleteThanks anyone...
Marianne
It could be because you have a Wordpress blog Marianne and this is a Google Blogger blog. Sorry I'm not much help

Chrissie, this is awesome. I always think that Christmas Cracker wrappers are so pretty and feel a little sad to throw them out after they have been "crackered". I love the glittery gold bits against the matt red and you balanced everything so nicely with the white and gold embossing on the background matt. Thanks for playing along at OCC.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of James Ensor but I just googled and your paining is spot on! I love that you try different things. The sparkly card is great.
ReplyDeleteGreat use for those leftover cracker bits - I have been known to save some bits myself in the past! Lovely card Chrissie all ready for next year. Thanks so much for joining us at Our Creative Corner this time, Juliax
ReplyDeletePS Love your painting too with the collaged faces. x
