Out of a Hat Challenge 16 Twinchies
At Out of a Hat Creations this week we have Twinchies as the Challenge.
I had to look up Twinchies as I wasn't sure what they were when they came out of the hat but it is always nice to try something different I think.
I'm am sure you will want to visit Florence Sandra and Janet to see what they have made for this challenge and also don't forget that for the whole of July if you enter in a challenge at Out of a Hat you will be in Janet's Hat for a chance to win the Tando Prize.
I made the twinchies with eggshells which is a technique I have never tried before. There are lots of tutorials online and all seem a bit different so I used them as a guideline then did my own thing.
The background is a piece of corrugated card from a packaging box. I emulsioned it and while it was still wet added alcohol ink drops and worked them into the background. Distressed a page from an old book for the next layer-then some gold mesh and lace-all finished off with a feather, buttons, copper wire,a stamped quote and a bracelet that was too small for me to wear. The butterfly stamp is one from Personal Impressions

Egg shell techniques.. All are similar in that you stick on eggshell -add drops of alcohol ink which spreads out on the eggshells-then coat with something to seal the whole thing--I just used some ordinary clear varnish.
The round ones have ground pieces of egg shell to fill in the spaces, the twinchies I just added bigger pieces and left the rest blank as it was thick card and absorbed the alcohol inks and the varnish.
oh my, oh my, oh my.....where to begin ??? Chrissie, the eggshells twinchies are out of this world fabulous and I love that you tried something you had never done before...the bracelet made me laugh; i dont wear jewelry anymore and I am always recylcing it in my crafting...all in all a fabulous piece !!! Chrissie, if this isn't "pulling it out of the hat" then I don't know what is. You have done it again - you come up with some wonderful things and this is truly wonderful. Each part of this fabulous creation is a wonder in its own right and the addition of that bracelet just finishes it all off.
ReplyDeleteHat's off to You Chrissie - you are a star!
