Triangles Challenge

Image
This week's challenge at Just For Fun  is triangles and I have just spent hours making my effort and a smaller one to send for the swap. It meant I had something to do during the boring bits of the royal wedding--not many of those because I loved it all lol I made this wall hanging from an old seed catalogue and the idea came from here  -if you look at the link please click on all the pages and see how some of their amazing hangings were used to do a whole wall for an exhibition                                       This is large one I made from the seed catalogue This is a small version that I made from a cut down version of a thinner seed catalogue as the big one was too large to send for a swap. Apologies to whoever gets the 'effort' in the swap as it looks far from pretty folded up for posting.

May Flowers

Image
This card is for the challenge at Daisy Doodles  --the image is one I got as freebie a while ago and I haven't used it before. I used Promarkers to colour it and also to colour the lace to match the image.

Alter a Tin

Image
Wow! The design team have done some wonderful tins at Try It On Tuesday  mine seems quite simple at the side of those but I was very happy to have a go for the challenge This is the tin I altered This is the tin finished. I sprayed it with gold paint then put ribbon around the outside of the bottom and added large jewels. The top is finished off with ribbon and flower embellishment

Butterfly Wishes

Image
There is a beautiful picture at The Shabby Tea Rooms  if you want to use it as inspiration for the Butterfly challenge. I did use it and made my own verison in Paint Shop Pro I printed this out a few times then did decoupage in different directions to make the card--added a little bit of glitter to a couple of the butterflies as well. Thank you for a lovely challenge.

Gate Fold Card and Fan Challenges

Image
Decided to combine these challenges as I had a background image that I wanted us and it seemed to be right for both The Gate Card Challenge is at City Crafters  and the fan challenge is here at Gingersnap Creations  both of these blog have lovely challenges and nice examples to inspire you. This is the card when it is closed This is the card when it is stood up and open--I made the background image square to fit the inside before I added the text to it. Now to make a box for it !! I got a Ginger Gem award for this-thank you Gingersnap Creations

Sketch and Princess Challenges

Image
The challenge at Oldie but Goodie  is 'fit for a princess' so I was able to get my Magnolia princess stamp out of hiding. I used to use it a lot but then forgot all about it. I made a backing paper to match with the words 'little princess on it but the words hardly show now everything else is in place. Everything else is in place because I have used the Saturday Sketch Challenge  to help me to make the card. I love the sketch challenges there and can't wait to see what each Saturday will bring. I did turn the sketch sideways so hope that is ok.

Squares At Just For Fun

Image
Oh I loved this challenge at Just for Fun  because squares always seem like an easy shape to work with--but I don't do easy lol. I found a great project here that uses two squares of paper. I am sure some of you will have tried it but I hadn't even seen it before except in the beautiful quilts that my daughter makes. I made an easel card from the fancy quilt square.

Upcycling at Try it on Tuesday

Image
UPCYCLING! Well the word is new to me but I will be using it often lol. Try it on Tuesday  have a challenge this week to make something from something you would have thrown away or not known what to use it for. My daughter bought me a lovely coaster as part of my Mother's Day present and the packaging was too nice to throw away but I didn't know what to use it for until the challenge came up then I did a bit of thinking. Here is the packaging with a nice circular raised middle and a piece of shiny card that slides into the front. I turned the card over as the back was the same only with out the 'Mum's Coaster' text on it. This is the wallhanging I made with it. It does look a bit crinkled but it isn't at all in real life it is just so sunny here today that there was a lot of reflection on the picture. I stamped on the black butterflies then did some all over stamping as a backing. Made a round photograph of me and my daughter and stuck that onto a round nestie s

Easter Challenge Card

I made this card for the Challenge at Craft Your Days Away  and will also enter it at Daisy Doodles Stamps  where my friend Paula is one of the designers. The image I used is a digital stamp 'freebie' and can be found here  at Boogaboo Stamps Lovely samples from the design teams on both blogs

Tag for try it on Tuesday Challenge

Image
Nice challenge here at Try it on Tuesday The colours for the challenge are Red, Black and cream and the choice of any subject so plenty of scope. The beautiful flower in the centre was made by my friend Von and sent to me as a gift. I have been saving it for something special and it sure looks special on this tag. Thanks Von.

Stars Challenge at JFF

Image
Well stars at Just for Fun  had me thinking a lot for sure. I cut out two largish ones exactly the same and stamped on them--with a rubber stamp and ink of course not because I was annoyed with 'em. lol. What to do then I wonder? Well! I joined them in a similar way to a sideways easel card so one of the stars stands up. I reckon if I put my thinking cap back on I can make a card shape from this idea. These challenges will have my poor old thinking cap worn out before long. Just for Von a picture of the back and how I joined the stars together. I'm afraid it is difficult to show the exact way I folded the card but I will be doing a tutorial for a star card when I come up with the concept. This is my second entry for the stars challenge as I would like to be able to join in the swaps and not sure that the first one would travel well lol. Just when I thought I knew everything someone mentioned 'Scraplings'--thanks Von for telling me what they are. I had to try one and her

Sketch Saturday 150th Challenge

Inspiration from your home challenge

Image
I am always happy when I look at this little soft toy in our spare room and love the turquoise and black colours so have made a card from those. It is for the challenge here at Try it On Tuesday Thanks for the challenge it was great to wander around our little house and look for inspration. A great idea for the future when I am stuck for ideas for crafty projects. This one won a £10

Circles Challenge at JFF

Image
Years ago my daughter bought some boxes of shapes on e-bay and hadn't a clue what to do with them so she gave them to me. I have used a few over the years and even emptied one of the boxes to use for storing bits and bobs. The other shapes just stayed in a drawer until good old Just for Fun  posted this circles challenge. boxes of shapes This is what I made with 20 circles for the challenge-well I also used a toilet roll middle-a straw-a little bit of green material and some ribbon and lace. If you go here  there is a tutorial to make the circles flower Thanks for the challenge and I hope next week it will be something else that I  will actually use after years of  of keeping things I thought would never be useful.

A Gem of a Design Challenge no 18

Image
Lovely Sketch at A Gem of a Challenge for this challenge I really enjoyed making this card and loved the samples made by the design team.

Pink, Blue and Brown

Image
This is a double easel card and I have used the colours for the Challenge this week on Oldie but Goodie. It was nice to have a colour challenge and to use some of the papers I got from a magazine a long time ago.

Spots and Stripes and a Sketch

Image
I have entered this card for the challenge at Sketch Saturday. It is a long time since I tried to follow a sketch and I had forgotten how difficult it can be. It was really enjoyable making the card and I will be doing more of them for sure. Also I am entering the card for the Spots and Stripes Challenge at Craft your Days Away  it was great to see how the design team had used the spots and stripes and inspirational.

Anything you Fancy Challenge

Image
Strange how when we are given free range we can't think of anything to do-well I can't lol. Since joining the Just for Fun challenges I realise that I am using my stamps more. I haven't really done much stamping at all apart from outlines to colour in so all of my stamps were neglected and the smaller ones were at the bottom of a large plastic tub. All sorted now thanks to this challenge. I got this board from our local picture framer. It is the middles that he takes out when he is framing pictures. It is terrific for the outside of books or for running through my Cuttlebug to make some shapes for decoration. If I need holes in it Vic drills them for me. This,  and some more I already used, cost me just £1. He seemed pleased to let me have it. I made this book to save my small stamps in. Firstly I used 2 of the pieces of board for the outside pages and polythene CD cases for the inside pages. The front has handmade senrendipity paper to match the colour of the ink I used t
