Journal page and photographs
Hi All and thank you you for your visit to Jumbled Craft. I have had a busy week with this and that but hardly any crafting and I won't be doing any after today as I am off to Wales
At Art Journal Journey the theme is Journey for the rest of this month so lots of time to join in before it finishes.
The background is one of our own photographs of a steam engine and we had just traveled on the train it was pulling. I am going on the Welsh Highland railway while I am in Wales and that will be another steam engine trip. It is wonderful that so many of the old engines are still doing these trips all over the place now.
On Thursday it was Vic's birthday and we went on the Yorkshire Belle that does trips along the cliffs from Bridlington to Bempton. Unfortunately the coast had chosen one of the rare foggy afternoons when the fog clings to the coastline but it did clear enough for us to see some of the thousands of seabirds that nest on the cliffs here.
This is a new sculpture on one of the piers.
The chalk cliffs here are higher than the white cliffs of Dover but they aren't as white for sure.
At this point there is a fault in the rock and the birds take advantage of the structure to lay their eggs. No room for nests they just lay eggs straight onto the cliffs.
Up above there is an RSPB nature reserve but the people who view from the vantage points will never see the same number of birds as you can see from the boat.. The captain makes sure the boat goes as near to the cliffs as possible and even stops at the best viewing point where the bird sounds are very loud.
The old boat which is repainted most years and has a long history.
7 different species of sea birds nest here on the cliffs including the elusive puffins. We did see a few of those but they mingle with the others. If you want to see lots of puffins the best place is Seahouses in Northumberland. There are seal colonies there as well. We only saw one seal on this trip though we do get a few in the bay.
Hope you enjoyed the trip and if you come here you will go on it yourself and invite me along.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
