Colour Techniques

Hello Again--second post from me today.

At Artful Times this time the theme is to make anything you like using colour techniques. I jumped straight in and did my own thing for the first one though I am sure I have seen the technique somewhere along the way.

For this tag I used distressed inks for the background then damped the whole tag before dropping on some alcohol ink. I let this spread out and dry then had a look to see what shapes had been left behind. It looked like a spray of flowers so I edged the blobs with white pen and then drew some leaves and stalks.

I think this is called a butterfly effect. Firstly fold a piece of paper or card in half and blobs of whatever you like on one side. I used food colouring on this one as I had been clearing out a kitchen cupboard and wondered why I had ever bought them--never used them for the proper use at all. Next fold the other side onto the blobs and pat down the paper--I used a brayer to make sure all the colour had spread out on both sides. Then just do your own things to make a page like no other. I stamped, stencils, coloured, sprayed and really enjoyed doing it.

    Hey Chrissie, I think you might've started a new trend with your butterfly print. Don't think I've done that since school but it's such a fun technique. Love your heads too and your little inchie. Hope you had a nice lie down! Xx

    Oh I love those pages. Such bright vibrant colours. What a good idea - I had completely forgotten about this.
    The tag, what a fab result you got. Pure inspiration to turn the blobs into those flowers.

    Fabulous tag and page, I do this with the children when they paint to make butterflies, must try it myself now I have seen what you have created.

Hi All. Thank you for visiting today and I hope you like what you see here. A fine bright day but colder today so I may fit in a walk later though I had some curtains to make before I do anything else. At Tag Tuesday this week the theme is Diva. I don't always remember to show my tags for there as you need to be a member and and do your own posts on Tag Tuesday's blog. Collage and Journal Page

Hello Everyone and thank you for your visit to Jumbled Crafts. I am in limbo bat the moment as my daughter had a operation yesterday and I am going up to Cumbria to look after her when she gets back home. Still not a clue when that will be but, I may go tomorrow anyway, as there are few trains from here to where she lives.  I want to be sure I am there for her return home. Not a clue when I will be back in Blogland so this may be my last post for a while. A collage of my entries for last month at AJJ Just spent an hour making a mixed media piece for Art Journal Journey where their new theme is For the Record. The host this month is Linda  and I am sure the theme she has chosen will be very popular as we are asked to think of a song that has inspired us in some way I have chosen a Burt Bacharach song that always made me so happy way back in the 70s. Journal Page and Altered Box

Hello All. Hope your week is going well. I am enjoying a quiet week as the Care Home is still closed to visitors. I have been knitting lots more Twiddle Muffs as word is spreading that I am making them and people are asking if they can order one. I am not charging for them but may have to start asking for a small donation as the things I add to them have all run out now so I will need to buy some more. Art Journal Journey have 'If You Go Down in the Woods' and it is going well indeed This is a revamped version of a digital page I created way back in 2005. At the time I had a passion for painting my own fairies-afraid this one looks as though she is wearing baggy knickers under her tights :) It is so funny to find old folders with things I made a long time ago but I will enjoy changing them a bit I'm sure.  I am joining in at Dragon's Lair Challenge Blog where they have a grid for you to choose a line I chose Pink, Box and Bow as my line I covered a box for Easter as
